Rosin tips/ questions first timer

I've done lots of research but sometimes still feel stupid. I'm trying to find out if I have the right idea. Ideally I just want to make personal rosin carts for myself.

Tools:
20ton harbor freight press
Dab press 5.5"x7" press plates
Reynolds parchment paper

I've found I should press at 180 for 1.5min.

90 micron bags for flower. Wondering if trim or popcorn can be ran through sifter bags with dry ice? Would that still be 90 micron bags?

Should I get the smaller 3x5 dabpress? I wouldn't mind doing 7g at a time. What size bags are best? Should I match it to the size of the plates?

I have the 7ton dabpress with the 3×5 plates and it works just fine for me. I run 180° @2 minutes but the press time can vary, depending on your strain ime. Some strains produce thinner rosin while some thicker. I'll also fold my bag from the first press and run it a second time as well. The second pressing i dont even scrape off the parchment to collect, I'll dab straight from that while my first press is chilling in the fridge/freezer for a couple hours.

Not sure about your popcorn/trim/90 micron bags questions, you may just have to experiment. I use 160 microns. I'm not overly concerned with a super clean rosin, it tastes great at 160 so I'm fine with that

What is your plan on thinning your rosin enough to get it into carts?

Edit
I use 3x5 bags with my 3x5 plates

Probably not going to press 7g with 3×5 plate. It is a little small. I don't use bags at all. If nugs are solid then press is clean. I run 190° for 2 min. Just make a nice puck and press away. I say ditch the bags. Way easier to reuse pucks for edibles. I have homemade press if u are interested in plans

No problem running 7g in a bag. That's the beauty of the bags, you can cram a lot of material in them.

I didn't use bags at first but I always ended up with a little greenery in my rosin. I may lose some weight using bags, but not too concerned.

Hi I'm using 5.5"x7" plates. Not 3x5 like the other person replied.

I plan on using a prepress in a cylinder shape and packing 2.5x4.5 bags. Maybe do 7g a press. Have a 20ton press h frame to use.

You cannot just put flower rosin into a vape cart, it needs to be thinned first with either terpenes or liquidizing product.

7g on a 3x5 plate is no problem. I've been running my bags chottle style lately, which works fkn great, and saves bag usage too, since you end up cutting one bag into three.

Not sure why guy said rosin can't go into carts. I posted the link above to how to do it. Any other naysayers? I don't wanna find out it doesn't work lol

I've tried it and it didn't go very well lol. And i used some of my "thinner" rosin that I thought might be easier to get into carts. I got a little in, but not enough to use.
If you do get it into carts, you may need a stronger cart battery to be able to work with your own thicker product

Did you let your oil warm like it says to for 48 hr in oven

That rosin wont dry out in the oven? I've left mine in a pyrex dish with heating pad underneath ( bho setup) and it turns more into a budder

I just use an electric nectar collector for my rosin. The idea of carts sounds nice, but the implementation sounds like a nightmare.

Never said it wasnt possible. Just that there are a bunch of additional steps you need to take to get a working rosin cart. The lipids and waxes in flower rosin will quickly clog a cart, thats why hash rosin is preferred and why you rarely see flower rosin carts on the market.

I've done this before. I think I did 24 hours, not 48. I didn't right down the details but remember it being straightforward. Mine came out a lot darker after the oven but had no problems with using it in CCells.

I have a nugsmasher mini and love it. Can do 3.5 to 4.5 grams a smash. 90 sec warm up. Usually. 185 to 195 f. Time of actual press is strain specific. Paperchef parchment works best for me. Good luck.
