Seedling Guidance Needed!!!!!!!

Currently there are no pictures. I'll try my hardest to post later today (the latest Saturday, definitely) All I can do is provide as much detail as possible.

EQUIPMENT/SETUP(not much)::::: I have 8 26watt cfls. Each bulb is 6500k and emits 1600 lumen. The bulbs are in Y connectors of 4 four rows (all four Y connectors are aligned approximately 4inches apart from another) Finally i've got one of those elongated fans (not the round ones) lying on the floor. It puts off a good breeze. Thats about it...pretty simple lol

Soil::::Unfortunately I reused soil from pots outside our house. Though I did filtered out all the roots and other bulky crap so it seemed decent. Can used soil lack nutrients??

Temperature:::::No thermometer but can confidently guess 70-75 Fahrenheit.

Seedlings::::I cut 2liter bottles in half to hold the seedlings. I germinated on Wednesday 6th and planted Saturday 9th. Today it is 2:40 a.m Friday 15th.
Counting only the days from which they sprouted from the dirt, they are all around 4-5 days old. Each plant is situated between 2 cfls, the lights are elevated just slightly higher. I could measure the lights being 2-3 inches away.

Watering::::I don't ph. I trust my spring water.I have a 6 oz spray bottle and was spraying "small amounts" of water everyday. I had a huge problem with my soil drying out...REALLY FAST! (no joke). I finally used my head and poured enough to soak the whole container. By the way, I noticed at the very bottom of the seedling bottles there was a MONSTER ROOT digging its way through. I found it very odd considering the size of my seedlings (below).

SEEDLING PROBLEM!!!!
My seedling range from .75-1.25 inches tall. They have of course only their first serrated leaves. They all look very healthy. Nice green color. Its just that......THEY ARE NOT GROWING!!!!!!!!!!! THEY'VE BEEN THE SAME HEIGHT FOR LIKE 3 DAYS!!!!! I can not notice any improvement in growth whatsoever...

What am I doing wrong??? I can come up with a few reasons for my stunted growth.

  • Reusing soil caused lack of nutrients
  • The soil kept drying out and caused lack of water. (the most likely cause but I can't be too sure....I'm still a noob)
  • My lights were too close and possibly caused a brief heat exhaustion??
any thoughts?????

i agree with vv. Also you can't be impatient with your babes. Its like watching water boil. you cant really judge how much they are growing unless you haven't looked at them at all for a few days. Plants always SEEM to grow slow when you're looking at them every five minutes. Also temp and PH aren't something you want to be guessing at GET METERS FOR BOTH
