I've read lots of info regarding germinating seeds but i don't understand why i can't just prep my gowing medium and just put the seeds into that instead of 3'' pots and transfering them or the 2 saucers in a warm place, still have to transfer them to bigger pots, why can't i just put them striahgt into the 10'' pots? That way i dont have to mess them about...??:blsmoke:

you can do that.
I sometimes just prep the medium, water, pop the seeds in and cover with shrink wrap to contain the moisture.
Its just often easier to germ them via paper towels so you are able to see if/when the seeds have popped..and you're not wasting valuable time waiting for any seeds that were not viable.

Potting up is beneficial to plants..And usually does them a world of good, provided youre not too heavy handed with the roots..

Also smaller pots make it easier for the young seedlings roots to pick up the moisture they require without over watering.

germinating is easier and more effective, IMO. the reason being is that you can check on the sprout growth. in soil right away you cant really tell if they are doing anything and you might tend to it for weeks and then it turns out that it isnt doing jack shit!!

take some paper towels. i use two and then comepletely soak them and let them drip dry while standing over the sink for about 30 seconds (until they arent sopping wet) or ring the towels out a bit to get out excess water. Fold them up in the paper towels set them on a plate and cover them with a bowl (for darkness) and then i place them on top of my computer for a littlle warmth.

I plant them when they are about 1/2" long!
