Should I switch to my 1000 watter for veg?

Hey guys,
here's the situation:

I got bout 8 plants under some lighting right now. I think there are 3 cfl's (2 23w daylight and 1 42w warm) and 4 4' 32w t8 daylight flouro's. 216 watt I guess. All the plants are different ages. Oldest is maybe a month and a half and youngest is a recently rooted clone. The oldest however is just at 9" with tight node spacing and already has side shoots I could clone from.

In FFOF soil and feeding the older ones FF Grow Big and the younger ones just water with superthrive.

I have a 1000w HPS for flowering, but I was going to wait until they all got at least 1' tall before flowering. Maybe even taller. However, the way this is going, it seems as it might take forever.

If I put them under my 1000whps 18/6 for a week, would they grow a looot faster and taller than a week of my current flouros? Or should I just use my flouros to veg for now and then just use my hps when im ready for em to stink up tha place?

I am not an expert and I don't play one on the internet but it has been said to me many times by many people I consider very knowledgable that more watts is always better. If you can maintain everything else. I would run the 1k w/ the CFL's for the rest of your veg and all of the flower, if possible. (you might be getting ready to use the CFL's for you next round of clones/veg)

well yeah i had that in mind, but I was wondering if I vegged 1 week with the 1000w hps and then went straight to flower, would there be a significant yield boost than if i vegged for 1 week under the 216w flouros and then flowered withthe hps

I have seen a significant wield boost from the same type thing with a 1000MH, so I would say yes you would notice a difference.

If you can get your hands on a "1000W Ushio Opti Blue MH Conversion Bulb", or similar... that would be best for veg. A regular HPS has mainly red spectrum and will cause a lot of stretch in Veg.

Well I can't spent the $120 on a new bulb right now just to veg for an extra two weeks, but I could definitely use some stretching. My plants have been vegging far too long and are very short and bushy, and I was hoping to be able to harvest 4' tall plants. Right now with my tallest being at 10" it doesnt seem very likely

Should I switch to my 1000 watter for veg?
