SoG Ideas?

Hey, I'm thinking of doing an SoG. My closet is about 4' tall, 3 1/2' deep, and 5 1/5' wide. I wan't to turn half of that into an SoG. I have a growing shelf for soil plants. could be modified for hydro. It is about the same hight and deepness. I wanted to do vertical, it seems very efficient. I was wondering how many watt HPS would be safe for using in here? Also, would having one side of the wall for vertical, using a reflector that was meant to be used on top on the side? Would they be as efficient?
I made a picture of what I'm hoping of. The light would either be a 150 watt or 250 watt HPS, what do you think? Those aren't the exact measurements, they could be off by up too 6". How many plants should I do in this if I were to make it? The empty space on the left is for storage.

what i would do with that setup is put cfls above each shelf in the veg room and put the hps in the flower room

I haven't put the rooms in yet, but wouldn't having that hps in that small space create too much heat? I could witch that extra 6" in the storage space and put it in either of the other two spaced, although it wouldn't make a big difference. My idea was to fit as many as possible, and to get a harvest every two or three weeks. So what about the light, 150 or 250? Also, where can I get cheap lights?

I would have only 2 rooms veg and flower and 1 shelf! keep the top shelf and keep the clones on it and then the rest of the room can be used for veg. You will need the more than 1ft of space to flower

get a 250 if you want to grow more than one plant.. i started with a 150 and it was impossible to fit more than one plant under it without making it stretch like crazy. im currently running a 600 hps in a 3x8 area and i use 6 feet of that space to flower and the other 3 to veg and i agree your gonna need more room to flower

Well, I'm trying to spend least money as possible. I know my greatest expense would be lights and ventilation. Would a vertical grow be practical? I'm probably going to use the whole closet.

get a self ballasted 250 watt hps that will probably be the cheapest..personally i have never done vertical grows so i dont know
i spent 500$ on just the ballast, digilux bulb, and cooltube reflector alone but its well worth the investment also i dont use any ventilation i just leave the door open
