sretching need help

i have 7 starts under flouescents and they seem to be gettin long stems..about 5 inches ..and they just started growin leaves...is this good or bad ..please help

bad, put your lights about an inch away from the seedlings and put something to support them they will fill out eventually.

depends if your using CFL's or tubes, CFL's get hotter than tubes. but it shouldn't floro's should be able to get at least 2in from the tops.

nah. 1-2 inches is good so that they don't stretch. they stretch to get closer to the light, if you bring it to them, they wont grow vertically that quickly.

i have 1 cfl and 2 tubes but right now im not using the cfl

Don't forget to use a gentle fan breeze to strengthen up those stems.
