Sun Speaker thing.

So my friend bought this.
Sunlight Sheds Hydroponics Systems
He tried to grow six kb seeds out of it and four died from what it looked like over fert. He tested the PPM's and if it goes above 700 the plants seemed to get sick. When they were young he kept the ppm's at 300 but even after two months if he tried to add more they would get sicker. Inside the box doesnt get much c02 in my opinion. I'm not sure if this speaker is completely right for growing with...
Once he started to flower the last two, One in the back that was weak all along turned out to be female after 3 weeks of flowering but died for some reason. the biggest healthiest one turned out to be male and at about 3 weeks he had like 10 shoots of seed pod looking shit. That was pretty gay.

Yea, i know its pretty damn ugly.
definatley need some pointers.

males are indeed bad - unless you want pollen.
not sure if you are letting us know to steer clear of these things or if you have some questions for us...

welcome to the site!

well we are pretty clueless on what PPM the water should be, and how much nutrients we should put in the water resevoir. and its pretty much in an attic and it gets pretty warm in there. and there isnt any kind of c02 on the plants. So im guessin thats some of our problems but we dont have many options.

how do i know how much nutrients i put in, and im sure i need to change the water every two weeks.
what should my PPM's read? 200? 500? 1000? i dont get it that much

gotcha ...

maybe some of this will help..if you are using tap water, your PPM shouldn't ever be over a 1000 PPM. Most nutrient manufacturers publish their feeding schedules on the web, so you should be able to find feeding guidelines. If you are using tap water, reduce the amount of nutes by 1/2. (so if it calls for 1 teaspoon per gallon, use .5 teaspoon instead).

you can get enough CO2 from fresh air but you need to exhaust the hot, stale, smelly air and have an intake hole to bring in fresh cool, clean air.

Too hot (and too cold) can stunt growth.

I don't check my ppm, i follow the directions on the bottle of nutes... I change my res every week, just so that I can make sure they are getting all the nutes they need.

edit: I use distilled water so that I know the butes are just about the only thing in the water.

you're growing in soil, yes? this dude has a hydro system and probably won't be buying so much distilled (if you are get an RO filter!).
and speaking of hydro - you'll need a good pH meter as well as a meter that measure TDS (PPM or EC - doesn't matter).

nope, I'm using a drip system hydro. dont ever check my ppm, but am all over the ph.... I should get an RO system... just havn't done it yet.

yea, we could. but my friends tryin not to get caught. theres not much ventalation probably two 6" holes on the back side but other than that we crack the door on it.

i have heard tale of the no meter growers and understand it can be done successfully. I congratulate you! my black thumb almost kills everything even with the latest gadgets! i'm jealous  <- me green with envy

do you think that not checking my ppm is giving me problems? i know that 2 of my strains start showing signs of manganese deficiency within like 3 weeks flowering, but can't get a good answer on how to fix that, I'm sure it's affecting my yield but can't get anyone to help me out so.... they just say to keep my ph at the right level, which i do, I keep it between 5.3 and 5.7 so that all the nutes are in play. I use DYNAGROW Bloom solution.

I just personally thought it wasn't a big deal as long as I kept on top of everything else.

caught by someone seeing the light from outside? or from someone with access to your attic? I don't understand.

Unless you and your friends are trying to grow in someone else's house (like parents or other relatives) without permission. I am not judging you or trying to harsh your mellow or anything but you should know that the house the grow is found in is usually confiscated by the police. so if you are growing in your parents house without their permission you are risking them losing their house.

Thought you should know that.

do you know anything about the DYNAGROW bloom nutes? it's only two of the 3 strains I got going that seem to have this issue...

i'm sorry i don't. my nute experience is limited to GH flora nova and flora 3-part and very limited AN products. but now that i'm using RO, i might try going strictly fox farms or AN.... not sure yet but probably AN - i've always been a sucker for overpriced, overhyped products.

i know what you mean, i get pulled into that shit sometimes too. but when it came to puttin down almost 2 grand for everything, i decided I should prolly do more research instead of buying the overpriced stuff.
