ok guys im growing inside in a 2x4x5 grow tent. i live in florida and its still pretty hot here. roof gets hot, attic gets hot, tent gets hot being its in my closet. i leave my tent door open with the closet door open and a box fan blowing air into it, right now its 81.6. it gets down to about 77 sometimes but when i close it up and just use the stuff i have inside, which is 2 6" oscillating fans and a strong pc fan on some duct for exhaust, which blows really hard. my thermo. says 90.2 when i open it...what i dont get is that my good friend grew 15 plants in his yard, there about 3 weeks from harvest, and we had a fucking HOT summer this year. i work outside all day and we had temps in the 100's alot, with the "feel like temp of over 110-115 and his plants grew awesome, so is it ok for my tent to be 85-90 degrees, mind you the fans are blowing right on the plants, im just tired of having my closet door open all the time and listening to this fan..i can touch it from where im at right now..thanks guys

You can work with temps like those, just keep the fan on them. Those temps can be optimized by adding some carbon dioxide. When pants are faced with hot, dry conditions they close their stomata during parts of the day, not allowing CO2 into the leaves or O2 out for that matter. The enzyme rubisco, used in the dark cylce, will bind with the oxygen instead of CO2. This will take away ATP, energy, that would have been produced. So, moral of the story is that if your temps are too hot, you need to get your CO2 concentration up. Well you don't NEED to, but it would help. Sorry for the lengthy explanation.

well your plants will grow from 85-90. it will just be much slower. i dont grow outdoors so i dont know much about that but it sounds like you need a stronger exhaust fan. those pc fans are great (i used one for a while) but eventuallt i bit the bullet and shelled out the cash for an inline fan. the cheapest i found was on ebay auctions. i dont regret spending the money at all ever since i installed my fan filter combo, my tempes never go above 84 and there is no smell.

What kind of lights?Try making a fresh inlet close to the floor and vent out or close to the top..With the temp being so high I would also give it a little co2.It should help.I`ll try to keep an eye on ya so if I can help,Just yell! lol...Hope I`ve helped.Good Luck on Your Grow.Stay Happy,Healthy, and High............

thanks alot guys, i def plant on getting an inline fan soon, then im going to get a new hps light. right now i have cfl's but they seem to be working fine. so those inline fans really help lower the temp huh?

yes they do. one thing to plan and consider though is what size hps you are going to get. if you plan on pulling the air through the filter than the light then out, make sure you get a fan that is strong enough.

my whole grow this summer was plagued by temps well beyond the 90s. in veg it's not so bad but during flower it can fry out the leaves so they dry and die quicker than they should., and the slower growth means you can't feed as much. that being said i still got grade a smoke, just would have been better if i had better temps. outdoors is a different story because the root system is usually more massive and the ground temp is much cooler than the air a few feet down.
