the ph of jack's classic

so i am giving jack's a whirl this crop. just the blossom booster 10-30-20. i have heard great things, one of them being that it's harder to burn plants with it even at higher doses. i have always used ff and the tiger bloom needs quite a bit of ph up. i just mixed my first gallon of jack's using a half teaspoon, and i noticed i've already put twice the amount of ph up that i usually use in the tiger bloom and it's still only around 6 (my tap water comes out at 7.0 exactly). i am just wondering if this is normal. i am using drops but the solution in the vial is basically clear so i don't think the color of the solution is ruining the results. blue solution + green drops does not equal yellow...

I've never pH'ed Jack's and I've been using it for close to 40 years.

Got lime or some sort of Cal/Mag in your mix?

i thought it sounded weird because i never hear anyone complain about it. i was planning on occasionally supplementing with a small amount of cal mag but not for ph issues. i'm gonna get the botancare supplement kit for 20 bucks. it has the cal mag, a carb/vitamin sup, and a flushing solution. either that or i have to spend 20 bucks on a giant thing of just the cal mag. so this ph thing is probably just me then. maybe there's something up with my water. i'm using oceanforest dirt cut with about 30% perlite, and top dressed with about an inch of happy frog. it has a decent buffer but i still don't get the low ph.

Why don't you just get a $5 (40lb), bag of powdered dolomite lime and you will have the cal/mag AND pH issues taken care of?

There is no Cal in the BB and that is on purpose, just as there is no cal/mag in the 20-20-20 also on purpose. It's for soil and water that has dissolved solids in, like tap or well. I used to buy it in 25# bags and use 125-150 gallons at a pop.

Works really well with added lime or oyster shell flour or similar. Never have bought cal/mag liquid, never any need.
