Spring to early summer seems on point with what Trudeau mentionned yesterday. And like I figured implementation in time for re election, which could bite him in the ass depending how bad he fucks it up.

My thoughts...
18 to 24 for months is too long to wait while they continue busting people. I realize it will take time to roll out properly but they need to decriminalize in the meantime. I'm encouraged to hear legislation could come as early as next month, but they need to speed up the process of implementation, imo. 6 months before the election might be too late to get the votes back that they've pissed off by dragging their feet. I'm also happy they explicitly state the US will have no influence on legalization.
I don't like that they say LP's will be the rec suppliers...the task force specifically said the market would be open to small entrepreneurs. They needed to be reminded of that NOW. The current producers have proven to be over-priced, untrustworthy and sell product of questionable quality, they need competition.
The driving issue really is no issue at all. There IS NO TEST for cannabis impairment. The presence or level of thc does not measure impairment. The cops are going to have to use the walk a line / touch your nose routine. How do they test impairment for any other substance besides alcohol? They have been stuck on trying to find a device for years and it just isn't there. They will delay this even longer while they continue to look for a magical device to appear. Morons.

I saw the same thing on video where it was stated small family owned businesses were going to be able to apply to be a LP. See how that worked out. Now the task force is directed by people with personal financial stakes in legalization. I would love to have seen the panel be made up of people who had no ties to any MJ business/investments.

So no home growing recreationally?
The task force recommended growing and even went to the trouble of setting height maximums. I can't see what excuse they would use to ban growing for one group when the courts ruled there was no reason to ban another group. I think it was just omitted from this article.

  • Licensed Producers will be the legal producers in a recreational market.

Really!? After everything that has happened! I shouldn't be surprised...

What if they open it up to smaller mom and pops? They'd still be called LP's after all, and it was part of the recommendations list along with everything else. Until they bring ACTUAL legislation to the table there's no need to panic.........yet.

That's what I'm hoping for too. They said at the task force new conference that they wanted small players in the market place. I can open a brewery or distillery to compete with the big players, I'm not sure how they would justify banning the same access for cannabis.

Well its cannabis so everything has to be different
I bet everyone of them has shares in the LP stocks, so that's their meal ticket.
Think if he babies?
Think of the politicians?
Think of the poor politicians, they all need private sector jobs after their stints.
But but the speculators say 20 billion dollar industry in Canada so that make is even more special so has to be locked down.
Did I mention that its, run for the hills "Cannabis"?

I'm trying to think of any other industry that the government restricts participation in subject to their approval. Many are heavily regulated, but anyone is eligible to try their hand. I imagine there are only a few approved for some military weapons production or uranium mining and stuff like that, but we're talking about a plant. I see it evolving like the beer industry with 'craft growers' and boutique cannabis shops. Once legalized for recreational sales, it is taken out of HC control. They don't stop anyone from opening a brewery or distillery and they can't for cannabis either. imho.
