To transplant or not

My plant is 6wks old, 6 1/2" tall. It's in a 1 gal pot. It looks healthy. I want to keep it short. About 4'. Can I keep it in this 1gal pot? Or should I put it in a 3gal pot that I have? And what will happen if I keep it in the 1gal?

Change to the 3 gallon ASAP, your plant wont grow as fast or as tall in the one gal.

That is correct, in fact if you were to pull out ur plant at any time of its life cycle and choped of the roots, and then chopped off the leaves and every thing else and let it all dry, including the roots. The dryed weight of ur plant matter and roots will be the exact same! So its very very important not to let ur baby get root bound and to yes, transplant.

In my experience, some strains do better in smaller containers than others.
Generally I like 3 gallon containers for optimal yield without using a giant ass container.
Most strains will be somewhat stunted in their growth/yield if restricted to one gallon containers. This being said, you can keep the plant in the smaller container if you are willing to give up bud weight... (and water more frequently) however, you should be able to produce healthy, gooey, potent buds......

This is what happens to a budding plant in smaller containers.
These clones were taken at the same time, the one in the orange, larger container (.71 gallon)...the tiny containers are apx. 20 oz.
The larger container produces proportionately larger plant.

I transplated into a 3gal container. This was before I saw your pics. The smaller one is what I had in mind. Only have about 1' on each side and 5' high in my growing space.It might be enough.I'll see. I used a tropical potting mix with a slow release plant food. Feeds up to 9 months. It also has peat,rice hulls,perlite and limestone ph adjuster. Hope this works. And should I mist spray my plant and how often? This is an indoor plant. Thanks

There are other things you can do to control the hieght without restricting the roots, which will cause a much smaller yield;

Top your plant; pinch the top growth off. This will cause the plant to redirect its energy down and out as far as buds go. Some even top numerous times. I topped all mine, and am very glad I did!

Another method is training the plant to bend over as it gets taller. I've not done this, but I've heard of others doing it.

Good luck whatever you do.

I've heard of bending them. I think I'll go with bending. I have the height in my room. Is there anything I can do to keep it from getting too bushy without affecting yield?

mookab, I generally prefer bending to topping because IMO, bending does not slow down the growth as much as topping.
You can bend your plant to fit into the available space....you can bend the main stem over and down, and you can also bend any of the side branches into the areas you need....you can use soft string, I like to loop pantyhose around stem or branch, and then tie the loop to mono fishing line to hold in place and train....pantyhose is excellent for use on stems and branches...it stretches as plant grows....

Good Luck!
