Too much space between my buds

Where in the hell am I?

Hi to everyone out there. Just a noob with a first time, gonna be a second time, grow question.
My PK was looking beautiful, she looked like there was barely going to be any space between the buds, growing at the rate that seemed to be just right for her. BUT I've harvested her and there is just a ton of space. Over the last 3 weeks, prob'ly, the plant DID explode with popcorn buds, but the 15 colas are only solid bud for about 3" down. A lot of friends have told me that that's just how Purple Kush grows unless you have like a real expensive set up. My question is, what could be done to make so much space between the buds? I do think that I over watered her, though at first ig I didn't water her ever day during flowering, her leaves would wilt terribly! I used the home made Co2 from yeast, kept her temp between 70-80, hed her on 12/12 with over 400W CFL, tried my best to give her good nutes, though at the last few weeks I had more N than P, so I dunno.
If I can ever figure out how to get pics on my comp, I will. I cut her down yesterday, so I will let you know what the weight is, tho I am not expecting much.
Also, any suggestions on an indoor that has BIG yields?

You may think "watts" mean one thing, someone else might think they mean something else! CFL makers are quick to point out thier "Equivelant" watts", that's just an advertising term that sells product - it has no significance in growing plants. The only "kind" of watts that really mean anything are the actual watts consumed by the bulbs.

Newbies tend to make this mistake all the time, I guess it's because the "higher" number just sounds better! So when you say "with over 400W CFL" , which watts were you refering to?

Also, you will find that, even among CFL users, lots of growers flower under HPS lights because they generally produce tighter buds.

there maybe a connection to more n than p during flower stage....was she in soil??? and how big was her pot...because the wilting leaves if not watered every day sounds like your plant had problems in her root system,,,maybe a fungus thing or or an o2 thing that may have effected your yield....

Okay, and THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! I had absolutely NO idea that I had to go with the actual output and not the equivalent. I think that maybe now I'm gaining the knowledge that I should have before my first grow. It's hard to find CFLs that big. Can any one tell me how much more expensive the HPS lights are to run a month opposed to the CFLs? The whole reason that I'm trying to do this is to save money while I get to enjoy creating:leaf:, as well as enjoying the "fruits" of my laborbongsmilie
Thank you all for your amazing feedback. Can't wait til I have rep to give some back!

I am not sure about the medium she was in. She was in a 5-7 gallon pot. I did my own Co2 after I learned how. But I bought her and immediately started flowering her, I think that I over watered, is that reason enough?
