I want to top my plant 4 1/2 weeks into flowering. The lower buds are all closer to each other and capable of making decent quantities of herb, and since I really only have 90ish more days to fuck with this plant, I'm wondering if now would be a good time to do that.

Check it this is what it looks like / = branch . = top of a cola | = main stalk
haha ya a fuckin legend/key omg
.
|\ <- top mini-cola
|/
|
|
| (do you see this massive amount of space that has NO bud?
|
|----------- so I wanna chop here *see explaination
| . <- bud
|/. . <- bud & bud
|/./
|./
|
|
not even expecting it to grow new heads, | I just want the colas down here at the bottom to get real fat and bushy k? | I think the plant could redirect it's effort to these buds and be closer to my clones instead of wasting time on a lil top cola and depriving the greater mass of my garden a higher quantity of lumens

4 1/2 weeks into flowering is kinda late to top. in my opinion. can you bend it over and lower your light?

it is so that the lower branches become all "main" colas.. what can be expected from such late topping is really what i'm trying to figure out.. and yes, it's been bent over, but i want to stop doing that and keep it sitting straight up with all the colas getting direct light

first, what kind of light?

i wouldn't cut your plant... if anything, i would tie a string to the top of that plant, and pull the top of the plant over, so it make's a 90 degree angle or so... and then anchor that down some... it's called LST (low stress training) where you are basically tying the tops down to promotes the lower growths....

or, buy some CFL's or something and add as side lighting or something

i'm wondering why theres so much stretch

iono, I have a lot of side lighting, that isn't the problem.. and the plant is bent over, I think that's less stressful than being put in a brace-like scenario. It's under a 430w HPS w/two side fixtures, one on each side, both fitted with two 40w warm white T12 tubes for 80w on each side

55,000 lumens

Sides 7000 lumens per side

The light is a foot away from the top with cooling so that it won't burn... THAT ISN'T what I'm asking at all. I know of all the ways that I could solve the problem without cutting it... I JUST want to know if it is going to be overly traumatizing if it's performed.. ONCE AGAIN, I'm not expecting new growth from the top, I am just wanting to get it sitting straight up, without the big fuckin neck.. If none of you have any experience chopping heads off this early, that's fine, I was just wondering

it can be done of course

you can cut from the plant whenever you want

now, it will slow growth, and may cause hermies, which is why i proposed the lsts...

but do what you must

i wouldn't even recommend cutting off fan leaves during flower, let alone the whole top!

that is, unless it finishes early... then harvest and move the lights lower...
