Transparency/Ghetto Cool Tubes

Hi everyone,

Im not particularly new to growin - I basically grew up on OG forums but Ive been away for a while and I need a cool tube. I should have pictures but I dont. 400 HPS and the way the reflector is jus makes it difficult to make a proper cool tube.

What is ok to use as a temperature barrier and what isnt; what transparent materials have the least light reduction? I want something simple to section off the lighting element from the rest. I plan on running separate ventilation through the lighting area and other area. Carbon scrubber for the grow area and then I can adjust the CFM of each depending on need.

Ive been browsing for a few days now and I appreciate how educated many of the posters here are. Help me out, maybe share what has and hasnt worked for you? Im thinkin really simple eg. saran wrap. I know there are materials people use outside for the roof of their 'toolshed' (greenhouse) and whitewash it to add a little more opacity. I cant think of the name(s) right now but are those a good choice for an indoor grow with limited light?

My newest setup will most likely be a cabinet type box. Im tired of looking at poorly assembled plywood. 3x1' or 3 sq feet is probably realistic so wattage will be fine and for convenience Im using HPS all the way through. Maybe compacts in the very beginning. Any advice is appreciated - thanks!
