transplanting question

My girls are in 4in pots in soil and I am about to move them to 1 gallon pots. Should I let them dry out first and give them a good watering after I transplant them? Also should I use just water or nutes too?
Thanks
Also I noticed a green color on the top of the soil (pro mix and perlite)
in some of the pots. Is this normal? Could it be from the nutes?I have not been overwatering. Thanks

u should transplant maybe 2 days after u water maybe 1 depending on how dry ur medium gets..
but u dont want it so dry the rootball falls apart when u take it out.
also do a heavy watering after transplant to make it cozy in its new home
i would use ph'd water only
hopw that helps bud

That's what I will do. Thanks for the help. Know anything about green stuff on top of the soil?

Yea I agree 2/3 days after watering is good. I personally would transfer to 3gal pots then to 5gal pots. Is there any certain reason why your moving from 4" to 5 gallon pots. I'm not saying its a bad thing.

i suggest you water a few hours before you are gonna transplant please do not let dry it will be hard to remove from pot and you will lose alot of dirt and it will be complicated on your roots... IMHO here if you do not believe try it but i had stuntin after i learned the hard way
