Trim or not to trim?

Heyho!

I would like to ask advice as this is my second grow, first time lst. I would like to have dense buds, as the first try was mostly airy.

Can i trim more to direct more energy towards the buds?

Apple fritter, Purple punch and Diesel. All autos.
Also Apple already has the “dust” while the other two doesn’t and I’m a bit worried. Maybe depends from strains.

Thank you for all the feedbacks

Dense buds are influenced by genetics mostly...after that lights intensity and spectrum and the rest is grow conditions and growers skills.
Defoliating can help yield by exposing more bud sites to better light...but doesn't redirect energy to buds.

Not sure how many plants you have, but most of the pics show a sativa. That being said, sativa's produce airy buds.......it's the genetics. If you want dense buds, grow an indica or an indica dominant hybrid. Also, improve on your light.

I used to get airy larg more so than actual colas. I kept running it as clones and started pruning to limit the amount of branches. Id defoliate some too. To make it airy in the canopy so you can see straight to the ground through the canopy from above. I lollipop make the flower sites shallow.

They started growing double the yield as dense fat nugs. It didnt look like it so I didnt know until I weighed end results. Feels like it needed time for the clone to age and grow that way, otherwise it just exploded in growth. When exploding it just keeps growing into a larf bush.

So idk but it wont always go that way, I had my last run they needed attention to detail. To veg longer and have a slightly different canopy. Cluld be I swindled away my pheno and only have bad copies of my pheno. Im in middle of finding it again or replacing it.

At the very least it should make all buds easy to trim no larf which sucks to trim only to still be a ugly airy twig bud. So yes genetics matter but sometimes its still worth it to try and redirect energy. It really will, I didnt believe it until 3 generations of clones I got sick of the twig bush. I wa s tired of trimming the larf.

So its one of those things that take time to learn.

Thank you for the feedbacks, apple and purple pucnh are indica dominant and diesel is sativa. All there are hybrids. I did lollipoping on the bottom parts, but again i have many new leafs, and I’m tempted to trim them, for better air flow but not at app cost. I don’t want to shock them. I will lower the lamps, now I have two led from amazon… Planning to buy vivosun aerolight a200se in October for the next round.
