Trying new light and looking advice.

Hi folks, i'm trying a new light this time around, its a Maxibright 600w dual spectrum HPS+, tested it the other night in the house and it started off with an orange glow, but after about 5 minutes you could see it turning whiter and brighter. I put it on today in my grow cupboard to try a few tests and the glow has stayed orange now for about 40 minutes. Is this normal? how come it changed colour after 5 minutes the other night but not now. (looked into cupboard there, it was looking into the ark of the covenant in raiders of the lost ark).

I am sure it's fine, if the bulb fires up and gets brighter it is likely just fine.

Of course make sure u are running your ballasts at the correct wattage for the bulb.
I once ran a 600 at 1000 watts for 3 weeks. Surprisingly the bulb still performed fine. A tribute to hortilux I guess.
