two autos, one stalled flowering?

hi all, my first post here. I have two candy kush autos growing that popped around the first of the year. I'm using a small 1 gallon pot for one, but it's been flowering for sure for about 4 weeks and a 3 gallon pot for the other which has been kind of stuck in preflowering for about 4 weeks. It continues to grow wider and more and more nodes popping up. To try and get things moving for the larger stalled one I went to 12/12 over a week ago. I'm seeing lots of female signs and width and height growth but no real budding.

Here is a pic of both and two closer pics of the slow mover. They were both about the same height about one month ago. Should I keep it up with this one or move on? Any ideas?

If you can get a autoflower to NOT go into flower for 5 weeks, count it as a blessing. The bigger it gets the more buds you get. Most of the time anyway.

Definitely not complaining, just don't know what's happening here. Plus the one slower to flower is getting BIG, wide and tall. I'm almost out of space. I'm wondering if there are signs here I don't see that something is happening on the flowering front? Also strange 2 seeds from the same batch grew at the same pace for almost a month, one goes into flowering, the other keeps growing.

I had some purple punch auto from Barneys farm. One finished in 8½ weeks & the other took 13 weeks. Looked like 2 different plants. 1st was purple & the other just green. I guess sometimes it's just genetics.

I was thinking the same with these two, they look like different plants now. But through the first month they looked identical. If the big one blooms it's going to be a rockstar. They are both at 8.5 weeks right now. The flowering one has about another 3 weeks I would guess. But the big one is not giving me any signs even if it's not a true auto since I have them both on 12/12. It seems healthy though!

Is this even an auto? Besides light and photo resilience, is there any way to really check for auto? If not, I want to clone her.

So this isn’t always true. My first plant took 5 weeks because I was giving it too much nitrogen. If it’s getting taller and not pre flowering after 2-3 weeks I would check your nutrients specifically nitrogen.
Typically the taller they are the less compact the buds are.

She's still growing, at 3 ft+ after I went to 14/10 to give her sister to the right some extra closeout light. Sister is on track for 11 - 12 weeks total. Looks like the big girl is flowering now but definitely not as obvious as I have seen in my limited experience. Growing strong with no negative signs. No trichs yet. In week 10 for both. Think the one on the left is an auto?

I've had mephisto plants do the same before... Those plants will be alright...

If you've got legit auto seeds from a reputable breeder you shouldnt be mucking with the light...they should be on a minimum of 20 hours a day start to finish, unless of course, you do mind a sub standard harvest...different strains, and even different phenotypes have different flowering starts..

By reducing the lights, you'll never know if the other plant was an auto..additionally, you've compromised the output of the one you know to be an auto...

My suggestion..keep light on 20 hrs in these cases and see where it shakes out...

Trying to grow Autos with photo periods is a total hassle...as techniques to grow one compromise the other.

You make good points @MrToad69 for sure. It's a real pain trying to keep up with both schedules in the same location. Not sure about the reputation of the breeder in this case. So, that's why I wonder what I have here. I'm going to go back to my original 18/6 schedule and see how it pans out. The little girl in the 1 gallon pot should be done soon anyway.

As far as output, I go for quality over quantity. I've done a few micro grows that I really liked.

Now that you mention it ,most of my shorter plants have hard, tight buds & the tall ones were fluffy buds. Thanks.

No problem I found that out the hard way. It sucks but it’s part of the process of getting better. Keep at it, keep asking questions and doing research.

Do you grow in coco?

I use soil I bought from my local hardware store. Its organic and I do nothing but use tap water for the first 5 weeks or so.

I was wondering if checking PH of my run off was a good way to check the PH of my growing medium, which is coco loco. I have a soil ph tester but it is cheap & I don't think it's working.

They have packs for calibrating your ph meter. Or if it’s cheap and you can afford buy a new one.

I do check my ph and TDS of run off. A lot of people don’t but I do as I feel I can see huge swings from what I put in to what comes out there’s usually an issue.

Growing organic you don’t have to worry about it. My tap water ph is like 8-9 depending on the day. It works fine for the first 5 weeks

Here’s what you can do with LST also. If you have room to spread your plant out for more “A” grade type buds.

Nice. Yeah I do most of the time but I don't get results like that. But my PH has been high for growing in coco. I didn't really check the ph of my medium before I started growing & I think it's been high for the first 4 or 5 indoor runs I have grown. Grew outdoors for a while but not so much indoor. It's not legal where I live. Not yet anyway. Indoor is totally different than growing outdoors.
