Can a heat lamp ( bulb ) be used to keep the grow tent at the correct temp without interferring with the 18 hr light 6 hr dark cycle especially during the flowering phase when the plant should not have any light? Please advise.

Thanks,
JB

I just want to add that I am trying to grow in my attic where the temps at night drop to 30 and 40 degrees. I think I am going to have a difficult time controlling temps. I am using a 400 watt MH bulb with no cooling tube so I am not sure how much heat this will throw off. This is a phenomenal site because it provides such a wealth of info for a newbie.I ask a lot of probably dumb questions but others may have validity that help other people with the same problems. I am trying to think ahead about my grow and any problems that I foresee as an issue.

I grow in a unheated area I run a 400w cooltube and two true 100w cfl's. If every thing stays closed the grow area stay in the low 70's and the outside room stays in the 50's as of now temps are staying around 30 give or take and I just added a space heater/room heater. temps will hold low 70's/mid 50's the rest of the winter no mater how cold it gets. oh I run light 24/7 in that grow room.

I have a very small (2x4 feet) grow in my attic. It gets over 110 degrees regularly in the summer. I use a self-watering planter in a Scrog setup, so water shortage is not a problem. Using four 150watt CFL's. Started my gardening adventure using a 400 watt HPS/MH setup, but the heat melted the snow off my roof in exactly the shape and size of my grow room. No problem now with the CFL's. Also using an aquarium heater in the water resorvoir to keep the water from freezing. Using a 40 watt ceramic element to keep the room around 60 degrees at night. (Outside temps now are running around 20-30 degrees) Hope these tips help.
