using microscope question

just got a hand microscope from radioshack with 60X and 100X mag. wondering how you use it. do you cut off a leaf and view it or try to do it right on the leaf. cant figure out how to see those crystals like you see in photos

nay advice?

it's easiest to cut off a small piece of material and place it on a hard flat surface.

cut a piece of the leaf closest to the bud with the visible trich's

i say leave the plant intact and develop a steady hand.
