Warm Mist humidifier

As the winter season is coming upon us time to start getting the heater and humidifier out and ready for the tent. Just curious as if anyone has run into the same issue as i did last year. I grow single bucket DWC in a 2x2.5 in my detached non-insulated garage. Assuming my well water is fairly high in calcium bc after a few days the plant started looking all wierd and showing signs of a calcium toxicity. At the same time i started noticing all the white chaulkiness around the humidifier. Stopping feeding Calmag(using distilled water) and plant starts looking strong and healthy again. Kept it that way all winter. Will non-heated humidifier cause the plant to not absorb as much foliar or will it do the same with a cool mist. I ony bought the heated one bc its all walton world had in stock that night.
