Water-Farm??

Any one use or have used the general Hydroponics Water-Farm System? I have my mother in one. The plant is doing very well. But I have roots hanging into my nut solution. They are very white and healthy looking. But there was no air stone in the res. I was told it would not need it. This is when I had like 2 roots in it. Now i have like 6 roots, with all this nice hungry looking hairs on the roots. So I placed to 8" air stones in there hooked to a 30-60 gallon Air Pump. There is a ton of bubbles in there now. so much that there is a strong current in the water. I placed these air stones in there about 24 hours ago. And everything is looking good. But i am wondering, can I be killing my plants with to much air bubbles and to much current in the water?

I am kind of thinking it is good for the plant. The current is not so strong that the roots are whipping all over the place or anything. Just lightly swaying from side to side.

Well, since it's a mother plant, you'll get a lot more roots hanging into the solution. A lot more!

The reason why it's not necessary to bubble the res, is because the solution being dripped constantly onto the rocks will aerate the solution nicely. But it won't hurt to keep your res from getting stagnant.

I do the same thing. I feel that it's good to have the airstone(s) in the res because at some point the roots may clog up the drip tube and then yer sunk. In addition..the added air is gonna REALLY make a difference in the size/yield of your plant.

good luck

thanks BT DT.

I am thinking that I will keep this mother for like two grows worth of clones, then send her into flower and grow another mother.

I am a one time grower of Hydro. I have always grown in soil. I tried out this Waterfarm. It did well for about 5-6 weeks, then I could not stop the plant from dieing. There were roots in the bottom, but they did not clog the watering tube.

Truely, I think I over did the nuts, and locked the dam thing up like fort knocks.

I am going to place one of my clones in this sytem as soon as the roots show. I followed the directions for the ferts @ 75%. I am going 25% of what they say, and build from there.

I've been vegging for 6 weeks now and am about to switch to 12/12. I kept the ppms at 600-800 all through veg..pH at 6.0.

In the last week the roots have EXPLODED. Should be an interesting 8 weeks or so...

DAM!!! This Waterfarm works great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mother is staying nice and short. But so thick and full of nice branches, that you can hardly see light through it. I have it pretty much surrounded by lights. I will try and get a picture of it.

Alrighty then.. here are two pictures of my mother. The one when it is small, is of the day I took it from soil, and washed the roots on it, and placed it in my waterfarm. This was 15 days ago. The other one is of today.

Not bad for taking a plant from soil and washing the roots and slamming it in Rock Wool.
