hello experience folks,i m really sorry to ask a repetitive questions----how to water?:wall:but it's still confused me~~
Yes, i know that i should wait them dryed out and water them, but i really dont know how to know it's dry or not??
Just feel the surface of the soil ??but i have wait 4~5 days,it's just dry and a little hard on the surface, when i try to dig a tiny hole,i still can find a little moisture inside......please give me some suggestion,no matter what you said will be help.

my condition:
temperature:15~18 degrees Centigrade

The golden rule of watering is, as you said, to wait for the top soil to dry out. Stick your finger 1-2cm in the soil and feel if it is still moist.

The bigger the pot, the more you can water, the longer it will take for the soil to dry out. I have a 70l pot and water my plant with about 1,3-1,5l once a week.

Your temps are very low. 15-18C really slows down the plants metabolism. That's why it can't grow that fast and use all the water in the medium, so the water becomes stagnant and keeps the soil wet. Your problem can be easily fixed if you just get a heat plate or put your plant in a ventilated box.

Just a quick question on this.

Let's say i have a 3 gallon pot, 3 days have passed, i check the soil and its dry and it needs some water. The question i have is, how much water do i put into the 3 gallon pot? do i put a litre of water in or do i put enough in so it drains out of the pots?

Hope someone can help me here.

Thanks.

You add enough water so that a thin layer of water starts to form in the dish under the pot. That's how I do it and it works perfectly.

i water about once every 3 days when soil is dry.. water slowly to completely moisten the soil and you want about 15% run off out the bottom. it takes a while but the best thing i can advise is just to get a feel for your plants ;) good luck!

i got 3 plants going right now in 2ltr bottles . i have to water them every 2 days.when the plant looks a little drupie. water them. i water them with just water about a half a quart then give them nutes and water mix untill i have run off. i tryed to wait until the top soil was dry but the plants kind of stop growing for me. then i started watering every 2 days and every thing seems fine nice and bushy.

this is one of the plants just before watering.

Don't let your plant go droopy. Droopyness of the leaf tips is typical to overwatering, droopiness of whole leaf + its stem is typical for underwatering.

Droopiness is a sign that the plant is slowing down its metabolism in order to take care of a problem or different concern.

Nobody can give you a set date/time to water. Why? Because everyone has different soil types/containers/plant sizes.
Water when you stick your finger in the soil and there is BARELY any moisture.
Roots in soil need to breathe, so how can they do that if they are always SOAKED? cant.

I have flowering plants 5 weeks in. I water every 3-4 days. If i knew what i do now, I would have got a more drainable soil, so I can water more often. *perlite*

More water + air = more plant and bud

:peace:
