Watering question: Kool-Aid?

Hey, guys. First-time grower, and I was wondering if anyone knows what effects Kool-Aid might have on a pot plant?

Would it kill the plant, or maybe (hopefully) change the colour of the leaves and the flavor of the smoke?

I really hope that someone can answer my question, as I'd like to do something to make my first pot plant slightly different from the rest of the swag in my area.

Sugar is one of the main 'secret' ingredients in many fertilizers. I have a lot of experience with molasses, fructose and refined and raw sugar, but little experience with Kool-Aid. I've seen Kool-Aid used and haven't been impressed with the results. Plants will suck up all the sugar they can when it's applied to the soil at irrigation time.

We did an experiment about 10 years ago and found that buds swell about 20% when sugar is added to irrigation water during the last four weeks of flowering. The sugar could also be enhanced with other flavors, but the flavors don't always come through as a notable taste when the weed is smoked.

Determining the dose of sugar is very easy: Add enough to a container of room-temperature water so that the solution is saturated. This will be about one tablespoon per quart of water. Remember, roots can only absorb so much sugar. Over-applying sugar won't make buds swell any more, and it'll also attract ants and other curious critters. This is why some growers apply only one tablespoon per gallon of water. If plants take a lot of water because they're in a windy location outdoors, cut the dosage by as much as 90%. As you can see, you'll need to play with the dosage a little, depending upon the growing situation of each plant" (hightimes.com)

use molasses in flower if you want, but kool-aid? dont even fuck around, wont do anything, wont change any colors, if you want a fruity taste, grow the right strain, and then sit down with a glass of kool-aid to drink and smoke away.

Question answered. And, just for the hell of it, Check out my little (hopefully) lass... it's been exactly one week since I planted, and next week I'll be switching from a 12oz bottle to a 2liter one.

Drakken there are many things wrong with that setup you got right there...

Firstly, right now your alright but when roots start to build up around the side of your put ( which is what they do ), they will be exposed to light, ebcuase your pot is clear. Roots do not like lights, and it will damage them.

Also why are you using that thing? your seedling is getting no ventilation, which offers co2, and many other beneficial things. Only thing that, your seedling is benefiting from, from being enclosed in that thing, is increased humidity, but thats not very important. If it was a clone this would be a good setup, but for a seedling... = (. Just cut the bottle down to the plant, so he can get some fresh air.

Why switch to a 2 liter? why not just go get a free 5gallon bucket from somewhere, the Quiznos by my house gets their pickels in them, so they always throw them out back. Or just go to a flea market and spend 2$ to get an actual pot with drainage holes.

I would just suggest reading GROWfaqs

Well, I wasn't actually planning to continue growing it in bottles, I'm just doing that to get it started. Also, I have very limited space, and I'm growing literally right under my mother's nose (yes, I still live at home, and if she finds it, I'm a dead man), so bottles is the most convinient method. I planned on changing to something else, long before the root problem occours.

I do airrate the container 3-5 times daily, and I've got it on a natural, 12/12 lighting scedule (AKA. it's sitting in the windowsill, where it gets full sun all day).

And the reason I'm going to use a 2 liter next is, along with the aformentioned problems, because I can't get ahold of a larger container than that. I live in a very small town, and 2 liters is about the largest clear, closed-container you can find here without stealing it from some farmer's house.

you should have it on an 18/6 schedule. unless you have a strain like top 44 that pretty much skips veggie..

sorry man, but sun indoors is not enough to grow a plant. ppl have tried on here, but of little avail -- it needs to be outdoors in direct sunlight, or have a lamp directly on it. I'm not positive, you may be able to get a small bud out of it, but def. not ideal conditions. Check out some of the stealth growing methods in the indoor growing section, you'd be surprised how and where you can grow your babies

Yeah, I realise that indoor sun isn't going to cut it, but seeing how this is my first plant, and it's a first-gen, I wasn't expecting anything too high quality, so it's not going to bother me if I don't get a whole lot of buds. This was mostly a test to see if I could keep the thing alive, wich I have managed to do. The next one, though, is going outside... I've found a good sheltered spot in my barn, with relatively little wind but a lot of sun.

Damn i'm surprised that seedling didn't fall over dead being with out good ventilation like that. you should use plastic cups or peat pots for seedlings. jmo Peace.
