Watering Solution

Hello, I am looking for an effective way to water my plants so that I can plant them outdoors and come back as little as possible to water them. What are my options? Ideally I would like to plant healthy seedlings and just come back when they are ready to harvest. Here is something I found and wanted to get your opinons on it:

Water only Once Per 2-3 Months!

What other options are available for me? Thanks!

btw - average rainfall in my area is 3.2+ inches a month

Check this out.

To water cheaply and effectively, cut a 3/16th hole in the bottom of a 5-gallon bucket. Mix an inexpensive all purpose water-soluble fertilizer with 5-gallons of water in the bucket and put the hole by the stem of the plant. Growing like this, only with 4 - 6 buckets of water will last all summer. Water with one bucket every 10 days during hot weather. Watering with this regimen, the plants will grow as well as if they had lots of water.

Thanks for the tip but I am looking for something more covert. Has anyone had any experince with water storing crystals like this? I wonder if with an average rainfall of 3 inches a month if this would be sufficent to support my plants? Anyone know?

Also, How many gallons or liters of water will an average indica plant consume over its lifespan? Thanks!

I will go with placing a big bucket next to the plant but here is a question about it. If I add liquid nutrients to the bucket wont they eventually settle to the bottom of the bucket which will over feed my plants? The bucket supply water for 8 weeks. Thanks!

The pail will empty in 15 minutes with a 3/16 hole in the bottom. This will last 10 days in the driest conditions.
