Preflowers appear earlier.
They will start flowering sooner than it gets to 12/12 because they feel how days are getting shorter.
Depending on your location they're going to start budding mid july - sometime august.

i live in nc and it says im gonna start flowering at end of aug and my plants will die in november..... its gotta be wrong... anyone else live around where i live that knows when the plants start flowering?

I was kind of thinking the same thing too, I'm also in the south.

What you should do is wait until the end of july and then leave them in darkness for 48 hrs before you put em outside and they'll know its flower time.

I upstate ny and my plants have been flowering for 3 weeks now....I started them inside but my biggest is atleast 8 feet tall i'm 6'3 and can barley touch the top of it....They are starting to stink and i just started FF Tiger bloom full doses...

12/12 is a safe number that is extreme and induces flower in indoor grows... outdoor has nothing to do with 12/12. Outdoor flowering begins when the plants are closer 14 hours light and 10 hours darkness. Twilight (dawn/dusk) brings the "effective light" numbers closer to 12/12. August 18th is a day of 14 hours light. Although it varies from place to place.... a general rule is that flowering begins in August. I harvested last year in the last few days of September. My indicas finished first, followed by the sativas.
