When i transplanted I just straight up plopped the plant and the soil around it in the bigger pot would it grow better if I removed the plant again and loosened the soil so the roots are more free to roam?

but anyways i never rough it up. i like to not disturb the roots if possible. there is no strain on the plants that way

I think it would depend on if the plant was root bound in the smaller pot. If it wasn't then I wouldn't worry about it.

Great point Buzz. When not rootbound, there is generally enough soil that drops off imo. Sometimes it's a pain to keep it all together (when i get impatient lol). When they're rootbound, that's when they get the "treatment" ;)
