this is the 3rd time this happened..i emptied my resevoir that i use to mix up all my nutrients and cleaned it with soap and water. 2 days later the white film is over my water again. it covers all the water and feels slimy. what is it? is it harmful? or can i water my plants with it..

your not getting all the soap out.
thats what the film is, more than likely.

try using just chlorine bleach and water when you clean your rez instead of soap... 1 part chlorine bleach to 10 parts water.
not sure what effect it would have on the plants. id be leery of using it

Some nuts do that, too. The tablets that come with the Aerogarden do that. I've seen in it other hydro grows as well.

I've seen this type of thing when using an oil drive pump. Check your pump and see if this is the type you have. If it is, even still there's nothing to worry about.

I think you should take it seroius.Roots can be dameged or soapified .use more oxygen in your rez or try to produce some flow in it .it may help
