Why Different Effect From Same Strain? Very Confsed.

Received my Florida medical card last week. A visit to my local dispensary and I got a 400 mg vape cart of Jack Herer. Made by company called Papa's Herb. Prior to this I was vaping Jack Herer made by Brass Knuckles. A thorough check and the Brass Knuckles seemed legit as far as hologram, lettering etc.

Here is where it gets confusing:

I vaped both brands using the same battery and setting.

A 3 second draw from the Brass Knuckles and I felt O.K. Not totally stupified but O.K.

Next day when I got the Papa Herb cart a 3 second hit and I was on another planet, seriously.

The Papa Herb oil is much lighter in color than is the Brass oil.

How can I get 2 totally different experiences from the same cultivar assuming I vaped same amount?

Possible Knuckles counterfeit?

I am lost on this experience but will say the Papas Herb was 10x stronger than was the Knuckles.

Also Knuckles had little taste and was easy on the throat whereas the Papas Herb had distinct flavor and a bit of irritation in the throat.

Good news is now that I am legal life will be easier.

Same strain but different plants. Could be different phenotypes of the same strain. Also different companies (without looking then up) could go about making their concentrate differently etc.

Most of cannabis isn't completely uniform across a strain, so different plants can give different effects, be stronger/weaker, a different color, all kinds of differences.

I agree with Dryxi different phenotypes. Sometimes strains are name based on the similarities of effects not even on the genetics. The other thing is the genetics in strains are not regulated. Meaning there is no telling if the that strain has the same genes as the true strain.

This. It's come up a lot lately actually. Dealers do this all the time. Near me in the early 2000s every bag of headies was "sour diesel" even if they all looked, tasted and affected you completely different. I mean, how many people know what SD actually tastes like? Or Jack Herer, AK47 or Northern Lights or any of the big names from prohibition times. It's not like the breeders could trademark an illicit substance. And the dispensaries and distributers do the same thing now in a lot of places.

There's no way to know if either cart is legit Jack Herer unfortunately. Best you can do is find a brand(s) you like and stick to it.

Commercial growers also typically harvest on a schedule that works for them and give zero fucks if the plant is ready for harvest, they just know they need to get the next batch of vegging plants into the flower room. People rushing to market with product cut far to early because they need to pay for the electricity they have been using to grow that product for the last 3-4 months.

I had a Dinamed CBD seed that produced a plant with a wonderful citrus smell to it, have two more seeds from Dinamed and no citrus smell. Darn I wish I had a clone of that plant.
