Why is it smellier when the lights go out?

Is it just me going crazy, or am I just learning a nuance of indoor growing, but when my 400 watt HPS goes out in my grow tent, all of a sudden, I'm overcome (along with the rest of the room) with the smell of skunky sticky icky! When the light is on the smell isn't nearly as strong, as if the light is holding back the smell from moving throughout the room, I guess it's probably just me going nuts but I swear every time that light goes out I can really really smell my girl much stronger...!

Its very possible they smell stronger when its dark time for them. I noticed mine smell quite a bit stronger when they need to be watered again. The day after I water them or the next morning they dont really smell all that strong but after 2-3 days without water they get stinkier. Thats just what I noticed...

Is your grow room ventilated? If it is, then your ventilation system is moving the smell elsewhere. When ventilation turns off (assuming it turns off w/the light) the stank lingerz .

they smell the most about an hour before lights come one and and for about an hour after they go off

I keep my exhaust system running 24/7 to keep the smell all going in one direction all the time, If the tent it closed I never smell her, but if it's open, and the lights are out, ohhhh son!

I can second that..its like they kno when the lights are gonna come on..but when the light first goes off the smell is different

I forgot y they do that..a quick google will help tho..and when the lights are on the plant is makin food which it stores in the leaves if im correct..when the lights go out u can smell the CHLOROPHYLL for a good half hour then it jus goes back 2 that normal funk..i think thats why they smell stronger
