exactly right. keep those cfls right on top of the lil guys. not a problem tho. when u transplant just put dirt up to the first set of leaves

i started with a 100w incandescent for the 1st two days (yes i know you're absolutely not suppose to use those) but it was all i had and it was like a foot away from the plant and then i used a 15w floresent and now i have it under a 19watt floresent. this pic is of it under the 19watt. should i put some more dirt in the cup?

is that a 6500 K tube or a Gro Lux ? If it's labeled cool white (4100 K) you won't see much growth. I prefer CFLs they produce a more intense level of light. You could have that seedling less than an inch away from a tube safely.

as soon as your able to transplant it just bury it down to the first set of leaves and it will be just fine,,, as long as you then put the light about 1 inch from the top leaves.....:eyesmoke:

i put more dirt in it but when i put it in a new pot ill do that. i just picked up some bulbs and they are 18 watt CFLS which have 1200 lumens. the color temp natrual light is 4100k. if i use both bulbs, is it good? and am i suppose to be doing 18hours on and 6hours off?

:mrgreen:8)you want daylight CFLs. they are 6500k.
i did an experiment where i set a seedling between a warm white CFL (2700k) and a daylight CFL. the seedling kept leaning to the daylight bulb.
i recomend daylight CFLs; you will see a huge improvement.

damn aight i guess i need to get some 6500s. how many do you think id need for what stage my plants in now, 1? sorry im totally new and dont know much

one to start, seeings as you only got one plant (what if it's a male ?) GE & Philips both make good 6500 K AKA Daylight bulbs.
