Why the fuck is my plant leaning??

My plant is under a 400w MH conversion bulb in soil. Sometimes I'll turn the MH off for a few hours and turn on some CFLs to save some energy, the 400w MH and air conditioners don't make for a good power bill. Anyway the plant slightly stretched when it had its first true leaves, now its working on the 3rd and 4th nodes. I have things holding the base of the plant straight, but this bitch keeps leaning from the middle of the stem to the point where a stick next to it only keeps it up straight but still leaned. I don't get it, it's directly under the Metal Halide, why the fuck is it leaning. If it wasn't for somin holding the base, this plant would be knocked over completely! I ripped one out already because of this, but I don't want to rip another out. Do you guys need pics to diagnose?

u can transplant and put soil to the bottom of first leaves....and put a breeze on them to stiffen the stem

The breeze right now is great. However the plant is in soil but was transplanted in the soil while still in a rockwool cube. The cube however is butchered because of how many things I've stuck through it to keep it straight lol. Shall I place more dirt in the pot or something?

ALso note, the stem has actually started to harden, just before the skin splits and it gets a more solid stem I think.

if u can put soil to the bottom of first leaves ,it should help a lil
other than that let it grow itll be fine

The breeze is fine doesn't say enough about whether you have things actually right. All you need is a fan on them from day one. A fan that actually makes the plant move not only the leaves but the stalk too. Wind is required, not optional and nearly as important as light and food. If you have proper wind then you will never have this problem again. The only time you'll have plants falling over from then on will be when they are nearly done and just too heavy with bud to expect any branches to hold it up. But given enough wind while the plant is growing before getting to that point can even overcome that extreme weight bringing it down too most of the time.

Oscillating fans are the best, if you use a stationary fan then be sure not to overdo the wind either because that just makes the plant always work harder trying to keep from getting dehydrated so growth is slowed.

Done right growth is accelerated by wind also. A lot actually.

Damn good answer, well it isn't oscillating and it moves the plant quite well, I actually have two fans facing opposite directions, so wind is coming in two different directions. The wind has been there from day 1 though.

I was editing my post when you responded. oh well.
Well we need a pic then, lets see it.

Is it maybe just leaning for the light? Maybe I was assuming too much in regards to other things you could have wrong.

No man your plants are leaning because your switching your light source... I have recently started doing this as a Light induced LST technique. I run a 1000w HID and when I'm about 2 weeks into flowering when the plants have stretched they're most, I turn off the HID for about 20 min while using about 65w of cfl above them. They immediately lay down about 12 inches or so, maybe more, then I turn them back against the wall of my flowering room so make more room for plants in the front. They stay like that for about a week, then they perk back up, but keep their bend. That way you don't have to tie them down or use string.

but ahhh yeah. DEF your light swithcing routine.... (I only do it one time for maybe 20 min, then never again.)

Well, now that you've posted pics it's easy to see the problem. The stem is far too skinny to support the weight of the growing plant. Bury the stem a bit further up with some dirt or something to help stabilize it until it's grown a bit stronger.

My 2-day old seedlings have thicker stems than that one of yours.

Why do you think this is, genetics? I mean this is bagseed. Also, How far should I bury it, that would make the stem thicker?

your plant is just leaning twards the light, its not really a big problem. if your planing on using LST it can be a good way to get the plant over to the side of the pot. if you want to straighten things out you need to re work your light situation.

its not too skinny it looks quite typical, the thickness of your stem and the fans are not the problem at all. i grew a plant in a window for a few weeks and it was always leaning towards the light.

you can bury the plant all the way up to the cotyledons, or right below. and it wouldnt make the stem thicker, but the soil would support it so that it stands up straight

Don't so this unless you're growing tomatoes you're likely to cause stem rot.

Fact

Just keep it staked up and be sure to keep the lights close enough.

Silicablast is also good for stem strengthening

its stretching and you need a fan on it so that it strenghtens up bro, and the light might be to far from it so you have to also rotate it or them a 180 degree turn every half day that the light period is
