Wilting late in flowering stage

Hello, I’ve been growing “Big Black Banana” and so far everything was alright. Just this week she started to wilt. She’s 60 days in flowering about 3 months old. Her fan leaves finished turning all yellow just today.

One thing I noticed is she’s starting to wilt on lower branches. Did I leave her up for too long? She’s in a 5 gallon pot, could it be symptoms of root bound?
The leaves on certain branches are folding over and feel soft to the touch.

I see signs of overfeeding.

Does it perk up right after watering? Is the water running out real fast? You could have hydrophobic soil where it's dried out so much that it's no longer absorbing any moisture. Are the pots light? If you do have hydrophobic soil you'll need to put the pots in a container of plain water for an hour to allow the soil to reabsorb moisture. You can also take some kind of small rod like a chopstick and make holes from the top of the soil towards the bottom to create channels for irrigation.

That's only if hydrophobic soil is the case. But if they perk up after watering and then wilt rapidly it's possible that it could be.

She does not perk up from water. It’s possible she’s over fed, I feed her once or twice a week. I water cycle 1 day a lot, 1 day a little, 1 day not at all. The soil is wet but not mud. Nothing smells rotten to me yet. She was supposed to reach maturity right about now so I may just harvest earlier. I’ll come back with a report on what the roots looked like after harvest, I don’t think she’ll last too many more days.

I feed every water so not it.

Oh it's been overfed.

If it's not perking up after watering then it's not hydrophobic. If it's been kept too wet it could be the opposite and be anaerobic and lacking oxygen leading to root die off as @Southernontariogrower stated.

If it's dying off like that you might want to get what you can before the buds start dying and turning brown.

This was my first time using fox farms nutes in homemade soil. Over feeding would make sense, I don’t feed often but I may have been adding too much. Assuming my other plants got fed around the same time, what would you suggest I do to prevent loss? Thankfully she was marked for harvest today so I should be able to save a lot from her. You really can’t neglect a plant even for just 24 hours.

Homemade soil can be a problem all in itself. I've started mixing my own soil and have had some issues myself after growing for years in coco and hydro before that. Soil can kick your ass if you mix your own and be like me and try and reinvent the wheel. But everyone ends up with their own blends that are usually similar.

If your other plants look fine don't do anything. If they're showing nutrient excess then stop feeding and just give them water.

I was able to salvage a lot of the plant, but the root system is very unimpressive. I think it’s roots being dark mean they were slightly rotting. The pictures are 1 of the recent plant, then the other is the root system of my last harvest. Very big difference in the growth and color. The healthier one has white roots that wrap while the unhealthy has dark roots that barely grew.

How does nutrition effect root growth? Could the verdict still be she was over fed?

They don't appear to be rotting (normal color for soil) but if you already harvested nobody can evaluate your issues

Well, it was suggested bud rot and the roots were darker than the last one. Something was wrong and it was heading up the plant so harvesting her was a Hail Mary.
I have a plant of the same strain whom is also showing the same signs.

if those roots don’t look rotten then I’m pretty sure the verdict was over-feeding
 
No synopsis from me. Just soaking up info. There was mention of root rot, so I was just seeking clarification of over watered or over nuted for my metal records.
