hello everyone,im a newbie grower and my plants are 3 weeks old i have 4 plants there doing very well. i have 3 26 watt=100watt cfl lights per plant.i want to go with a kit that is a digital 400 watt mh hps with the hood that has vent holes on both sides with glass and the switchable ballast for mh hps bulbs.and 1 of the badass exaust fans they sell to vent the hood. my closet is 7ft high 6ft wide and 2ft deep,if it is vented right would it get to hot for my closet and risk of a fire? i am new and i know it is a little high tec for being a newb but i want to really give it all i got. i am a 9 yr journeyman electrican and i can get the 4ft 4 lamp t-5 fixture's for cheap would it be better to just get 2 of them. please help.

If you dont get an inline cooltube and actively cool and vent the heat, your closet will heat to around 120-130 easy.

i wouldnt stress to much, im runnin a 400hps,in a smaller closet, and as long as you have good ventilation you should be fine,mh should run cooler to .....

realy? i made a whole new wall to cover it all up,(4x6 pine plywood) cut a door, and i have two 4in exhaust holes, ones not in use and i got a 4 footset of the ducting with three antec comp. fans,to in the tubing, one at the end sucking air out the room... how powerfull are these do you know?

no, the 400's are perfect for those size rooms, what every1 is trying to say, is that you want to check out in the DIY rooms, and making a "COOL-TUBE". IT GOES AROUND THE BULB, WITH AN INTAKE AND EXIT air running over the bulb, let the intake come from a cool pace from OUTSIDE the grow room. and the exhaust, also gets send out of room. this will keep the heat from the bulb down alot, so it dont heat up your rooms. do a search on a HID cool-tubes. you will see how it works, it is easy, then go to do-it-yourself boards, and you will see a few step by step on how to make your own at 200% cheaper.(hate cap lock)

the best of luck on your grow.

no prob. just like add 2 more vents on your door, and run cool air thru it when lights are on. it will make venting out your room way less often. then you can think about CO2, if you arnt venting the rooms all day.

why did muyoso say you can reach like 120 in there? i think i will add a couple more....already installed tho...and i have a scuba tank for co2,..(i compete in paintball) so i need a solenoid and bubble reg or sumthin

I am growing in a smaller space than that with no heat problems. I have a 400w MH light without the good hood you plan to use. I have 1 air inlet at the bottom, 1 outlet near the light and 1 at the top 6" diameter with a exhaust fan on in.
