Male cannabis plantsMale cannbis plants are often, but not always, tall with stout stems, sporadic branching and few leaves. Males are usually harvested except those used for breeding, after their sex has been determined, but before the pollen is shed. When harvesting, especially if close to females, cut the cannabis plant off at the base, taking care to shake the male as little as possible. This helps prevent any accidental pollination by an unnoticed, open male flower. When a male enters the stage of flower development, the tips of the branches where a bud would develop will start to grow what looks like a little bud [little balls] but it will have no white hairs coming out of it.
Female cannabis plantsFemale cannbis plants will have no balls and will have small white hairs. Cannabis in temperate climates begin to show his sexual identity by the end of July [end of January in the southern hemisphere] in different dates according to the varieties, cannabis being the resinous flower of female cannabis plants intended for seed production, in absence of pollen buds turns out pure sensimilla weed and is gentle and sweet to smoke. It is very important to get rid of male plants on time, as they are unwanted pollen carriers. By the early flowering stage male cannabis, if compared to female's, shows quite a different structure but the characteristic excrescencies would be the sex indicator this are called primordia and will emerge by the side of the third or fourth internodes in the main stem. Female cannabis are completely revealed when the characteristic "V" shaped pistils become visible, all this to a close observation. Outdoors males will uncover themselves approximately three weeks before the females, indoors sexing of both males and females happens within a week to ten days according to the variety. We've heard of urban legends about environmental conditions, age of seeds, added chemicals and even lunar stages having an influence on sexual differentiation of Cannabis; you might take note of those suggestions as personal communications, but a good handbook or an internet surf works the best if you lack in experience when sexing.

Hi all-

First post, did a lot of reading and have a few questions. My buddy and I built a nice grow box that has inside dimensions of 3'1 high, 1'6 deep and 2'4 wide. It contains 1" reflective insulation and weather tight with a door a fan that brings in fresh air and an exhaust that takes air out into a HVAC duct with fabric softner to help dull the smell. I will be using the Aerogarden Deluxe. I am still to get extra lights, and an air pump with airstone. This will be my first grow and I want to do this right. My first question is Lights

I have a 160W Wonderlite is a wide spectrum light designed for orchids and other tropical plants that tend to perform poorly in standard home or office environments, Its unique spectral distribution has an excellent balance of blue, red and far-red wavelengths in the visible light spectrum (440, 660 and 740 nanometers)
---Is this a good light to use?
---And will I need other lights?

If I do need another light, I would prefer to get 2 of the same to put on both sides. I dont want to use lights that produce heat to the point of burning the plants...
---Is it better to have a HPS bulb or a full spectrum CFL?
---At which wattage would I need?
---Which are good brads to pick up at a home depot or so.

I have plenty other question but I am tkaing this one step at a time thanks

I would suggest using a HO Flourescent T-5. I found a 2ft 4tube T-5 with the bulbs for around $106 the other day. Here's the link, I'm going to order one myself come payday next week.

Hey guys and gals dog hea.. Just wanted to update u guys.. Well as u know i started with 5 and the other day i chopped down my 2 tallest plants because they were males.. Well i went to put my lights on this morning and guess what.. I have a female.. I see lil white hairs comin out of this 1 YAAY.. And if im not mistaken the 1 in front of it might be a female too.. I shulda be able to tell by tommorow or sunday the latest.. And my 3rd survivor isnt showing any sex at all yet so lets pray i end up with 3 lovely ladies.. I would be very happy with that i planted 5 and hope that the last 3 are females.. But for my next grow im planning on buyin feminized blueberry dro seeds.. So no worrying about wasting 2 months for males to show up like this time.. Thanks mo and purp for the seed sites!!!!
