Seems like ur clueless so ill attempt to fill you in on the last decade or so of refugees arriving on Australian shores mainly due to an American invasion.

They arrive in Indonesia wanting passage across the very dangerous sea to Australia on old worn out boats that are not sea worthy.

The people smugglers charge a fortune for the opportunity for these desperate people to overload themselves on these death traps with no food, no water and no maps. Often with nowhere near enough fuel. Get told to "head that way", tis not far.

Hundreds of kilometers latter they sink, break down and starve and or drown. We used to accept those who arrived with open arms after a security check. No problem as most were indeed refugees. Just like those in the detention centers today.

The problem.
More and More refugees died at sea..more and More money was being made by the people smugglers. The govt decided to stop people dying at sea, they could shut the people smugglers down my saying something like "Any refugee who arrives by boat will NOT set foot on Australian soil".This was then heavily advertised in Indonesia, fliers etc the lot. Now this did stop the boats. yep..stopped..no more die at sea. But we have refugees who cannot set foot on Australian soil or the boats will start back up. Its a catch 22.

Do I agree with the policy? NO. But thats the reason and it has saved lives and stopped people traffickers making easy money on the desperate.

If your so concerned then Take the refuges like you said you would and everyone can feel warm and fuzzy.

Either way the leader of the free world did not have to be so rude. Being polite costs nothing, esp to your closest ally.

Very well said. Refugees are a thorny problem. Better to lean on the regimes generating them, not so easy to do in itself.

He is definitely dumb. If he voted for trump then yes he is both.

You can tell "dumb" due to him getting on a soapbox and vomiting. If he was even a touch intelligent he would offer a solution other then the one Trump will tear up.

I am not a fan of the deal or our boat refugee policy. I, like the majority of Australians think its un-Australian. But it has saved lives. Perhaps thousands of them to this date.

Starting wars with the states of origin of these refugees doesn't seem to help, either. Economic sanctions? Not really.

No one stopped Pol Pot until his regime murdered so many it collapsed from within.

You know, I'm a pacifist by nature. (Although I've done horribly violent things to males, things that often shame me.) And I try for diplomacy and compassion FIRST, always.

Having said this, I'd really enjoy splitting the spandy's head with a hatchet. He's not merely an 'internet troll', he believes the shit he spouts. I feel his toxic energy bleeding through the computer screen, like a rancid fog.

nazis made good neighbors. they would mind their own business when the SS and gestapo came for the trade unionists. and the intellectuals. they just kept quiet as long as no one came for them.
