Do we need more information on seed packs?

A family friend was running for years. Long story short, they caught 5 or 6 bad breaks over a couple years. Stressed the cut out, last elbow had seeds in it, they stopped growing it and I have about 10 or so seeds left.
All have been fem so far 4/4. Some are close to the original, some WAY different. All good, so I'm assuming it selfed under stress.

If they don't disclose the genetics than I'm not interested. Your logic is sound but doesn't apply to new drops. That would mean your buying a strain purely based off name/hype since there is no additional info. Strains that just dropped probably won't have any smoke reports or grow reports for at least a few months after they release.
I've notice that it's not a lot of testers even some breeders say they only in house test now. So not many testers & no info just genetics, strain names & assumptions for all the new drops. I guess one should look for older strains but the way it is now how everything is limited you snooze you lose.
That's why a few keywords about the strain would be helpful in buying these new strains that come out every week or two from whoever. If it was me I would just have a website or blog which is free.

There are testers. I've tested beans. Make a grow journal and show some good plants and people will contact you.
I see both sides. I would like the info but I understand why some breeders don't disclose it.

I think its fine of its one or two key strains.
as long as it isn't what your known for.
But all the same, let us know if its indica or sativa leaning. Stretch in flower etc etc

Not disclosing the genetics sounds like a sure fire way to go out of business IMO.
I just cant imagine anyone (even novice growers) gambling their cash, time, and resources on unknown genetics. Especially the seasoned growers and seed collectors looking for breeding stock.
Like many, each seed I plant has a purpose and growing unknowns would be like feeling around in the dark for me. No thanks, lol. I'd gamble on bag seed from some good pot first.
Perhaps smart "breeders" should just do fems if protecting their lines is important.

The only packs of seeds i did buy,that came with descriptions was Reserva privada/DNA
Spot on,on all of them.
I give to shits what someone writes on a pack of seeds.
Most all breeders rename cuts,most all breeders lie,most all breeders will pollen chuck.
