If you fill a room with LEDs, you won't need a heater though, only if you have like a few hundred Watts in there and it gets cold.

My 8000BTU aircon couldn't keep up with the COBs on my previous run.
Yeah, important to note you can't hook up ducting to LEDs like you can with HPS (minus chilled's stuff). So while they run slightly cooler watt for watt as HPS, it's more difficult to get that heat out of the space.

Of course you can mix hps and strips and it would also increase the leaf temperatures by a certain margin. Let's say you replace 600w HPS with 400w HPS + 200w strips, leaf temps would be higher as with LED but a bit lower as with 600w HPS(less far red radiation). But you would probably need to use an air conditioner depending on ambient temps to keep the temps at 75°F.
With LED you only need to reduce the ventilation to get the desired 82-86°F and you do not need air conditioning!
In winter it can be easier to combine HPS and LED. In summer, it should be easier with LED. But it depends on where you live and how the local weather conditions are there. In California, Texas or Florida you will almost always need air conditioning, while in Alaska you may be better off with HPS + LED.
I live in a temperate zone, max. 86°F/30°C in summer and coldest was 16°F/-9°C this winter. My room temps are usually between 65 and 72°F or 18 and 22°C.
With LED I need no air conditioning, no heater and no dehumidifier to get my desired tent temps. The whole enviroment is only controlled by air-flow and dimming!

I could easily make a ducted hood for the LEDs, it is just not needed for me.
I'd much rather just mount them on alu square tube and hook those up to a hot water system and radiator, this way you get free hot water for growing weed.

My drivers just arrived for the next two lights.

Yepp, 4 QB's on an alu-sheet fits well in a ducted hood.
I don't remember where, but I've already seen this combo..

Yea the set up i have planed is built in two stages

First ill have 4 4 ft f strips and 4 2 ft strips
This will be for supplemental lighting to the gavita 750.

Then if summer heat is too hot was going to add another 4 of each for a total of 8 4fters and 8 2 fters over a 7.5 x6.5 area

3 meanwell 480 b drivers one for the 8 2 ftwrs and 2 for the 8 4 fters

Mine was also planned over two stages, second stage took a few weeks to long though, but the clones did ok under CFL till now.
Will just let them have a week or so under the LEDs before flipping them for the next run which is still 3 weeks out.
I also need to go get some chicken wire to make a hoop for my girls, the colas are starting to get too heavy. for what I have supporting it at the moment.

The red bar represents the open end of the tent

Measurements weren't taken as accurately distanced as they should, but it's good enough for me.



Ill probably throw up another one for 18" distance later today. Knocked my fucking seedling over moving things around to take this one though :cuss: so i hope she is okay. But Ill state that @ 18" it's 40-55k lux everywhere so it's quite uniform!

Actually yeah, check out this pic they have on it, 50 umol on the edges

I sourced it from a few places

I didnt have to pay shipping for the frame because the distribution center is near me so I did local pickup

And I got a great deal on the driver from arrow (was about 20-30$ less than from mouser) plus they gave me free 1 day shipping (should probably edit my OP with the link for that)

Couple of the bits ordered using free amazon prime shipping

Dude, you have to stop looking at Amazon lights and then asking us about them! We've told you over and over again to avoid those things, and we've told you over and over again what kind of light you should get if you're going LED. Personally, I'm going to once again suggest you stick with HPS - it won't get any simpler or easier than that.

Edit: People want to help you. They really do. However, if you're going to ask but not listen, people are going to get tired of trying to help. Just put cheap Amazon lights out of your mind, bro. Don't even consider them an option! Once you've done that, you may make some progress in your search. Best of luck.

I just took another chart for PPFD @ 18" and not only is the uniformity unbelievably good, but the PPFD only went from 727 @ 12" to 695 PPFD @ 18". Remarkable! I think this also proves 100% that more light sources = better light penetration! @nfhiggs



Here is the HLG 300 for comparison, with 602 PPFD @ 18"

I think this also proves 100% that more light sources = better light penetration! @nfhiggs

Gotta love them strips. I got mine all put together but its not in the cabinet yet, its on my kitchen table.

I can't wait to see what they do in flower. I got a lovely little seedling (honey bananas from elemental seeds) growing under the light right now and she is doing great. I think it's a great strain to see what the strips can do. The uniformity will make things very forgiving. Didn't like running 100w strips in the other grow, got bleaching in areas and penetration wasnt what i'd like.

Knocked her over taking the first chart but she is totally fine now. I was planning on doing 2 but one of the seeds never germinated, not surprised though because the seeds looked really small and a bit immature when I got em.

Here's a pic of her, 6 days from sprouting surface



My VPD is trash right now though. Only way my humidity is gonna get into optimal levels is when the plant gets bigger and starts transpiring a lot more. At least that's how all my last grows have went. Once my tents fill up it goes from 20-30% up to 40-60%.

Yep, 10 LT562B strips. And I actually realized that it was 320-330 watts at the strips or so, not 313w. It's exactly 350w at the wall at full power.

The whole fixture is exactly 24x30" in size, and the strips are spaced out approximately 2 inches from each other.

I'm just gonna stick with the one lady. Ill be using a scrog to fill out the space so it'll just take a bit longer than usual. I use a really airy soil blend and fabric pots too of course so my veg speeds tend to be pretty fast once things get rolling.

I have a C99 seed from G13 labs I could pop but I think im just gonna roll with this one plant. I'm pretty sure the quality id get from the C99 wouldnt hold a candle to the honey bananas anyways.

Do not underestimate the C99 Cinderella, it can be surprisingly good. Although I only know the old C99, which was based on Jack Herer genetics, but was only available as a cutting back in the early 90ies.
Many breeders have tried to capture the potential of this awesome strain and get it in a seed variety. I do not know how well G13 labs did it, but C99 can be a very special genetics.
