I just wanna say, I love the forum, and bad apples aside.... I would be hating it if it closed. FDD, do what you gotta do. I see you as fair, and to the arguing masses, this forum is not run by the government, nor is it subject to your rantings about first amendment rights. Is this forum taking that away from you? I think not.

-EDIT- I think I may have misunderstood.........It would make no difference to me if the "politics" section was closed, but I still find it interesting. I was thinking you all were talking about the WHOLE forum.....whew.

I also am retired.... although i don't do it to keep from being bored....it's fun, and I'm constantly watching financials as I type.... two birds, one stone....like it should be.

i actually think this section should be shut down to preserve the overall integrity of the forum.
the politics forum is a sham, and actual civil debate is such a rarity here that it all just seems
like some rancid dingleberry hanging off the ass-end of RIU.

either way it doesnt matter though. people come here to learn to grow and this site is certainly
the most helpful in that respect.

though i've been around less often lately, i think it would be a shame to close down such a lively section and a definite loss to the community. some of us enjoy the back and forth of these discussions with others who share a common affinity for our lovable herb, despite the occasional tantrums and other childish behavior. forums devoted exclusively to one subject lack the depth of membership that creates community and tend to become tedious to all but the most devoted.

after growing off and on for many years i seldom find anything out of the ordinary in the grow section and have little to ask or add, preferring to peruse them at my leisure in search of an answer to some dilemma i might come across. more often than not, it is the slightly skewed perception of reality that i seek here and in similar places. without controversy that perception pales and, if confined to only the technical aspects of this lifestyle, becomes meaningless.

oh well, que sera sera. is this aging hippie dating himself again?:bigjoint:

whether or not i frequent this section is inconsequential to what a laughing stock it is. its not a place to discuss but a place to 'win' by attempting to dissuade people from posting a different opinion. that is not a debate and also requires zero knowledge of the topic. in fact all one needs to destroy a topic and derail conversation is one generic and often baseless talking point laced with ad-hominem attacks and accusations, repeated over and over with no evidence to back up the claim, followed by a few "mee tooo" posts just to create the illusion of finality. shit thats pretty much the politics forum in a nutshell. recycled talking points from people who are too lazy to research and *god forbid* present found evidence in a debate.

in the end its simply 'he who squawks loudest and most frequently wins'
reality and facts be damned.

thats why most people on this forum avoid this section like the plague.

Me too...that's what I say as well PVS. let's try and clean it up!! But if ppl pay attention to facts...Obama is going to look horrible! How is that going to pacify the looney left?
