you're prob. better off in coco. that moisture control crap probably has loads of vermiculite in it. i don't think vermic is a good idea, ever. you want your medium to dry up between waterings/feedings. remember that coco is hydro so adjust your ph accordingly.

the filter is probably good to use. some filters are designed to be re-fillable. i have a mountainair that is that way. even if they're not made that way, i believe you could drill out the rivets and re-fill it. how much filter you need has to do with room size and the strain you're growing...

give coco coir a try. it's like growing hydro style in soil, almost.

those look sweet! you need to decide when you want to finish up and arrange your feed schedule to that time. you want to flush and get them to start yellowing off.

i don't know if i'd call myself an expert, but i believe that if you were in 12/12 and switched to that schedule you mentioned, one of two things would happen. it would either get shocked into hermie or start reverting back to veg. you don't want either of those....

at 2 weeks you can start feeding at 1/4 strength. if they're showing defs. then feed. i wouldn't foliar with the light on. they sometimes burn and you want to take care to not get your light wet. foliar feeding is best done about 30 minutes before lights on.

watts over volts will give you amps used. so, 1600 watts divided by 120 volts is 13.3 amps. i wouldn't want to go any more than that. remember, every little thing you have plugged in will be drawing on the circuit.

yes sir, switchable! i kinda go through a couple lights early on. everything starts under a t-5. from there a good week under a lumatek 400 watter. then, under the 1000 watts until harvest. i have a back-up 1000 watt hps only, just in case.

you can clone a clone as soon as you get decent growth tips. a couple three inches.

if you want to grow/yield "big," then 1000 watts is the only way to go. i have one and will not part with it.
