By "base-up" I mean not hanging - like you can only use them in something like a lamp, with the scre part down. Says it right on the box with a picture.

Just figured it out... took a look at the box looking for a number to call and found out the bulbs are only supposed to be used "base up"... Damn them!

Actually, I'm using some organic soil - forget the name. The MG is the powdered blue stuff that I mix with water. Used 1/2 tsp for a gallon of water, and then balanced out the PH of the mixture.

I assume that the fertilizer (Vigoro 12-10-5 pellets) is fine to add to the soil of the bigger pot? Also, should I mix it in with the soil or just do a layer on the bottom and one layer on the top? Oh, and thanks so much for the help!
