I prefer to stay medical, as big of a pain in the ass it is....

Yes, I doubt it will ever happen on July 1st 2018. The ease of access to LP cannabis in some provinces has made it rec like anyway!

July 1 2018 will NOT happen!!
maybe the following year.....
I'll take that bet...what are we talking, QP of flower? Or, we could make it interesting and make it oil (no rso)? Rec MJ legalized (whatever form that may be) on or before July 1/18!

As the date gets closer you'll see things start to heat up, by which I mean pressure from the US not to go through with it. I believe Trudeau WANTS to do it, but I think the US will stop him. They're not saying anything about it now simply because there's no reason to and it might spoil other negotiations that they plan to engage in, like on free trade. Shit will start getting real after new year 2018.

There is a real good chance Trump will be gone in a matter of months anyway, so I'm not sure his opinion is going to matter. It isn't going to affect Canadian domestic policy. They would have to shut down all the legal states first, and then work on that oxy problem before they worry about what we're doing, imo.
I read an article today about Rodger Stone and others calling on Trump to legalize, for whatever that's worth.

Yeah but the US won't let Canadian tourists in if they admit that they're going to buy weed in, say, Washington. You'll be denied entry. And as Jeff Sessions has told us, he's going to be cracking down on rec before long. My guess is that sometime before July 2018 he will do just that. THEN what will Trudeau's defense be? And it's also not nationally legal, therefore completely different. Trudeau could simply order police not to prosecute weed shops, like those states did. He instead decided to do something far more drastic, because he's a retarded idiot French-ass gay boy.

Well, there's a threat... who the fuck wants to go to the States anyway? How is that different than the way things are now? Are Canadians not refused entry NOW if they admit to cannabis use? Canada can reciprocate equally and refuse entry to Americans for the same reasons.
Why would Trudeau need a defense...Canada doesn't ask our retarded cousins for permission to change OUR laws. I'm not sure you understand how the laws work here, provinces are responsible for policing and law enforcement and prosecution. The prime minister does not have the power to force police departments to NOT prosecute an existing law. We've all seen the precarious situation legal states are in right now due to a change in government, so legalizing nationally is the intelligent option.
Jeff Sessions will be indicted for treason very shortly, I don't think he'll have much time to worry about Canadian marijuana laws. I'm not impressed with the way the Liberals are going, but it's about 1000 X's better than the shit storm circus in the USA.

That IS the way things are now. I wasn't prophesying I was telling you what the current situation is at the border. The only thing I said could happen in the future is sanctions on Canadian exports of pharmaceuticals, which I'm sure the US pharma companies would be ecstatic about. And you may THINK Sessions and Trump will be prosecuted soon, but in reality something like that would take years if it happens at all and do you really think Jesus freak Pence would be softer on weed? The Repubs are ALL Jesus freaks, it's a requirement to join the party apparently. Doesn't matter which particular ones are in charge. Trump is actually the most weed friendly Repub there is, so you might want to hope that he DOESN'T get thrown in prison.

The old "sanctions" argument is mute. Canada can retaliate...who wins? How does that work when 25% of US states are currently selling recreational marijuana against federal law? I think they need to clean up their own cesspool before they will be taken seriously when they try to dictate foreign policy on their neighbours. Even Mexico is laughing at them. Like I said, Canada doesn't give a rat's ass what Trump and Chumps think and we won't have them dictate our laws.
Trump can't even get his own health care bill passed when he controls all levels of government and you think the rest of the world is going to listen to the clown? I predict the Republicans implode in the next several weeks and impeachment hearings will start by summer.
