Yeah I've been looking into TC and the equipment I could use in a home(sanctioned/dedicated room). So far there's only one person I follow on a different platform who is undergoing TC and has the equipment and is documenting it, and who I can message and receive a response from. So far it's going well for him, and I'm familiar with a few of the components/equipment involved with it.

Cool stuff. It's finicky but worth it in terms of storing large numbers of different genotypes, or for cloning vast numbers of the same plant.

I'm interested in following your progress.
It's a bit intimidating, but I'm going to attempt it when I can afford a basic setup. Regardless I'm going to keep experimenting and collecting genetics. I want to start breeding mostly, as I've never done it.

Using tissue culture as a breeding tool would be a brilliant combination. One of the central tasks involved in *real* breeding, as opposed to hobby level pollen chucking, is running large numbers of individual crosses. Taking and keeping a labeled tissue sample of each of potentially hundreds of seedlings would greatly accelerate the process of taking advantage of those few in the batch that best show the characteristics you want to work with.

That was the idea. Saves space and allows me to play with cell samples... My mentor was going to teach me, until a small series of bad judgment calls and mishaps led to a (hopefully) temporary seperation. I've been out of the *serious* cultivation game since then, as I had to direct my focus elsewhere rapidly. Longest years ever, I tell ya'...
For right now I have to "chuck pollen" in the best/most proper manner I can. I was gifted a pill bottle wrapped in duct tape full of collodial silver, so I have that to experiment with as well. This will be my first year/go around where I won't be culling every male.

What do you guys think about LED? I know HID is the tried and true, but I wonder if technology has gotten to the point where LED is worth using for a grow of this scale. I've read 650 watt LED = 1000 watt HID (depending on a million different factors for the specific LED compared of-course). Anyone have experience in this area?

As far as yields in the system, I've pulled upwards of 3lbs a light in RDWC using doubled ended HPS. Setup wasn't cheap though... Tons of AC/Dehumidification and Co2. Every aspect of the environment was dialed in.

As far as LED, I've always believed it was a matter of time before they get there and I think if done properly as far as CCT selection/combination they are finally about, if not already there, with COB setups. Cree is releasing their CMA Arrays with "Fidelity" binnings up to 98CRI. Overall I think it says 20% gain in effeciency over CXA2.

That post is where my journey into LED began. Some might say I became borderline obsessed since then lol. 20% efficiency gain is crazy good. I'm currently looking into what equipment I need to purchase to observe these new COBs (and one's currently on the market) so I can collect data on them @ drive currents different than what is showcased in their datasheets. This will enable me to design the best fixtures possible.

I think COB LED is at the point where 750w can match or maybe outperform 1000w DE HPS. 3lbs per light is fantastic, nearly 1.35 g/w. A user here called CobKits posts a lot of data on COBs and he believes 2.0g/w could become a standard figure using LED lighting systems. I'd put money on there being a few guys out there consistently pulling 2 g/w with LED just like I'm sure some HPS guys are hitting those numbers.

Imagine 3 lbs per light using a 750w fixture with way less cooling requirements.
