I was under the assumption if something operated more efficiently it would operate at a cheaper cost. Maybe in an industrial situation where a multitude of motors where to be being used, 240 might save some cost. MIGHT? Sorry for being such a wrong cocky arrogant asshole. I am a journeyman wireman, and a good one, I just keep my head in an industrial setting so maybe that's why I was thinking on a large scale. No excuses what so ever, I was wrong, wrong, wrong, and a major asshole. Sorry RIU members for being cocky and arrogant. And yes, my shit does stink. Very badly!!

sorry i missed that ill stop being a dick. its all good man, just be open minded i didnt mean to go all out on you, but thats just some basic electrical stuff. on industrial/commercial scale things apply very differently.

Dude, you may be thinking of three phase electrical systems that you're working with in an industrial setting. When you get up into the three phase, 480V range higher voltages may be a cost savings...I'm not too familiar w/ three phase systems.

Everyone makes errors. Glad yours were on this board and not out in the field......ZAP !

I doubt many of you guys except very skilled electricians or electrical engineers know what I^2R losses are anyway...
Duh, it's just a simple squared relationship showing current vs. power loss. Anyone who had freshman physics is familiar with this relationship and you don't need to be some gear head to get it.

Duh, it's just a simple squared relationship showing current vs. power loss. Anyone who had freshman physics is familiar with this relationship and you don't need to be some gear head to get it.
Of course it isn't difficult to understand, I just don't feel like it is something every Joe Sixpack knows about.

The savings come from material cost. Increasing voltage reduces amp draw which means lighter gauge wire is required. Copper is expensive

where is the location of said bud and gold, different or the same? if the same, that cannot be true as they cannot occupy the same space/time. every atom of gold is different there are no 2 atoms the same, just very similar.

dont worry i caught myself about to post something stupid yesterday about breeding, something i knew, but i thinking on to it too much lol it happens its better when you can admit you wrong. plenty of good examples of my stupidness from way back when.. i remember when i though MH bulbs put off UVB (they dont) and argued with the master over it, til,l of course, i was proved wrong, nowa days im considered one of the goto guys for UVB info.
