$1200 To Spend 2nd Time Grower

Okay.. currently i have a 400 watt hps in a 2 foot by 3 foot armoir with 4 plants 3 weeks into flowering..... because of the heat issue i have to sit a fan in front of the armoir and open up the door and blow air onto the light....

My next grow i want to improve...I will have at least $1100... I want something where i dont have to leave open so that it stay cool... besides light and smell are the number one causes of getting caught and popped off.. So i was thinking....

1.600 watt digi lumatek (heard that they work with mh and hps bulbs plus they got cut off circuitry which prevents fires)

2. Grow tent

3. cool tube with fan. (dont know which fans i heard vortex was good but dont know to much about fans period)

4. the dryer hoses..

Ifigure this is the essentials that i need. What do you think? anything else im missing? Any suggestions? improvements? money saving tips? i dont need any advanced intricate stuff.. just the basics to grow weed thanks

Hi I was in a very similar situation and I ended up going over my budget lol

dont forget pots, soil, clones or seeds (unless bagseed), TIMERS.

I suggest with 1200$ you get a 600w Lumatek with an aircooled hood and a good bulb. Vortex 6" Fan. Carbon filter (since smell will be a concern). Basically you're on the right track.

How many plants do you plan on growing under this 600w?

Check out htg for awesome deals on light kits. I am looking at the growlab 120 by homebox and the homebox L original, 600watt w/easycool hood ( I read on the forums here that the cooltubes reduce your lumens by something like 15 percent becuse of the curvature on the glass, so I am going with the regular type hood with cooling. Hope this helps you on your quest for a self sufficient lifestyle.

i dont know how many plants i can get under the 600... im trying to grow the maximum number of plants under it and still get good results. any suggestions? whats htg? do you suggest the regular hood over cool tube? if so, is it harder to keep the regular hood cooler?

it all depends on what you want. If I wasnt worried about plant count I would get 1 aircooled 600w hood, and I would put 49 clones in 5" square pots. I would get short cuts with good roots and I would plop them in the soil. Veg them for 2-3 days and put them on 12/12. Find a good strain and you'll be gettin a SHIT load of bud QUICKLY. :)

If you do a SOG style garden like this I would get a cool tube. If you grow like 12 bushes for 2 weeks and flower them then I suggest using a hood.

and grab 2 of their digital air cooled 600 watt hps (230$ x 2) a 6" inline blower and charcoal filter combo (199$) a 4x4 tent (109$) takes you to about 725$ now you've got your lightighting covered, smell, and grow room takin care of .... ? leaves ya with 275$ for all your other goodies, (pots, soil, cordes, timers, meters, whatever...

i second that notion, HTGsupply, pick up a couple 600's they throw in MH conversion bulbs, 6in air cooled hoods, either euro or easycool, not much more money, they have a really good fan for 100$ 6in 450cfm will cool both also can be used for the carbon filter, works great, go to ebay and get your PH and tds meters, can find them both for under $40 each

He would be better off getting something quality like Lumatek, in my opinion, HTGsupply is defiently cool though.

PH meter under 40$ ?? ILL BRB! :D

lights and fans, lights and fans, fans and lights. i say get 2 600w or 400w hps hooded/tubed linked w/ a booster and primarys for a once a month perpetual fully matured grow. remember, 10,000 lumens per square feet is what u want to mimic the sun.

I was thinking of 1 600 watt digi lumatek. i live in an apartment so i dont wanna run up electricity bills by grabbing anything over 1000 watts.

So i dont need a vortex fan to keep it cool? will the inline fan work? whats the difference between vortex, can fans, and inline fans?

How many fans do i need? 2? one for intake and one for exhaust?
