1st attempt at scrog

i have been an lst guy since i started growing bend and tie and stake. my motto. i was looking at my plants and there was this trellis net sitting on the shelf for years which came with this tent so being the impulsive person i am i said hell why not? never tried it never late to try.

its by no means perfectly leveled canopy and this 4x4 scrog net i suspect should be only used in a 3x3 or maybe i did it wrong have no idea but had to use zip ties to make it stretch all the way over the canopy and cover the tent wall to wall (kinda). or maybe thats just how it works haha

what do you think am i using it wrong? or is this how these scrog nets are?

one way or another its going ok. i was mostly looking for cutting out the need for excessive support in late flower by using this scrog net and i am hopetimistic about it for now.

i also found an aquarium co2 reactor tank i had so i threw that sucker in there too. not looking for any significant ppm boost or anything but hey citric acid and sodium bicarbonate is dirt cheap and this room gets 0 fresh air with a closed door in a house where no one lives so i dont think the gals will complain about a little co2 raining on them haha.

not looking too shaby here. i ran into some problems with destroyer as it as very sickly and pale yellow. some flushing, some h2o2, an aact, topdressing with ewc and opening a aquarium hose sized hole at the bottom and actively pushing air with an aquarium pump into the bottom aeration level which i had layered with hydroton when i was setting these pots up seems to be working lol. for now it looks better.

now all i am concerned about is my vertical space bc destroyer almost just started stretching and the lights are at the top :) well maybe a thread about topping in flower brewing up here haha

Your plants look nice. Just a nit picky point, your trellis will indeed support your plants as the buds fatten, but a SCROG is a different animal(a rigid screen that growing branches are tucked back under, or tied to in order to level the canopy, often just one plant).

well its still a screen of green even with the trellis net instead of a rigid screen haha. the only reason why this scrog attempt is not tucked and weaved is because when i decided to give that trellis net a go plants were already trained by tying bending topping and supercropping then i said fuck it i dont wanna deal with million yoyos and i threw the net over them so the tucking and bending on this grow is fairly minimal i agree :)

I think you've made a lovely job, you're doing great even if you're screen doesn't qualify lol
haha thanks man. nah i agree its not super level canopy i can blame 3 different strains and heritages like one being pure indica the other being pure sativa and 4 hybrids from seed which doesnt grow identical at all as expected but to be honest i just wasnt much bothered by the unevenness in general. thats why even northern lights is not even there are some taller colas in there for sure. shit happens man :)

destroyer is on full throttle now after all the effort i put into it to correct the problems. i guess it was compacted soil and i have been watering with .1-.2% h2o2 for the last 2 weeks and it seems like it helped a lot. now all branches are vibrant green and so are the leaves.

i can safely say that it looks good finally. topdressed all the pots yesterday with ewc manure and a pinch of guano and watered with aloe gel. hopefully it’ll be smooth sailing from now on lol.

As a common phase goes, many ways to skin a cat.

I think it looks good. Think it functions as it should.

I am 27 days into my first tent grow. The plants are close to ten inches tall 4 autoflower. Thinking about using the net that came with it, now that they are taller than humidifier. Did I mention I hate my humidifier? I have the new infinity one on order.

They have all started to show signs of female flowering. Had some issues with one plant getting unhappy. Learning curve has been steep, just like being in my first Masters ski race with 26 hours of time on skis.

its still early to say if it will work as i hoped it would. i’m afraid i’m gonna need to get the yoyos out for one dinachem and the destroyer as the colas above the net are atm at least 50cm high. so i am sure i’ll get a lot of lean late in flower but keeping my fingers crossed.

as for learning curves man i’m proud to say i’ve never finished this destroyer looking even remotely beautiful and healthy lmao. dinas and northern lights will look ok when the harvest time comes but destroyer will be a trainwreck again for sure :)

Do plan a defoliation soon? Ditch the crap that’s deep inside the jungle?
i dont plan a major defoliation at this point. i already did a light defol couple of times since i flipped and i keep picking off shading and touching leaves as i see them.

maybe in the photos its not so clear but besides the destroyer i feel the canopy is pretty open and has a good airflow between the buds.

as for destroyer since it was set back a lot by these problems and since i plan to do partial harvests anyway i think i’m just gonna let it ride.

Carry on as you are pal, your doing great in my eyes, will look real good the last week or 2, hopefully different colours.

Im planning on scroggin white widow and blueberry due To my height being only 1.5 mtr, apparently both are the go too strains..

people say yours is not a scrog but they Haters that’s all haha.

how long was the veg for these plants?

its a screen of green isnt it lol

i had one blueberry years ago stretchy af hope yours will be better. i can suggests northern lights if you havent had your heart set on the blueberry :)

this tent will be colorless sadly only yellow by the end especially the destroyer probably.

these are clones and seedlings i’ve been keeping in my clone tent for god knows how long maybe 3-4 months? they were in small nursery pots but honestly i dont remember how long they have been in these pots. all i recorded was the flip date which is 17.11 and i think it was 3 weeks veg before the flip.

I flowered some blueberry twist recently and I've one other blueberry twist in just now, they've been nice compact plants,
from advanced female seeds.

seeing the destroyer was completely healthy i gave it a nice cleaning. took down all shading leaves and opened up the canopy a bit.

That looks real nice. My four auto flower are starting big time to flower.
Thinking about when to trim.
i do it whenever i feel like it but autos may be a little bit more fussy i think you should get it done before the end of the stretch but i have never grown autos so not sure on that.
