1st closet grow Diesel ryder in AG

Hey RIU! this is my first grow ever although i've been doing my homework for the past year or so. I chose a closet setup. It's an L shaped cedar closet that is pretty roomy.
My nute plan is Fox Farm trio from week 2 on @ 1/4 strength. Then increase gradually. I'm also using PRO ph up and down.
I planted my Diesel Ryder seeds on April 1st. They were germinated with the paper towel method on my cable box and all 3 popped (seeds from Attitude).

Here are pics from day 4:

I took off the labels cause I think I planted my germed seeds too low in the pod. I carefully tweezed them up to the top of the pod. So I wanted to wait till they rose a bit to throw them back on. I hope they start to stand a little taller.
Post freely.

Whats your light situation? what are you using?
I built this after reading Seemorebuds awhile ago.

This is how I plan to have it when they get a bit further along but with 12 daylight cfls. I currently have the hood all the way down with 3 cfls on each side for side lighting. I can't decide if I want to go hps or go full cfl for flower and get 12 125w soft whites.
Yea i'v seen that thread, looks good, keep us posted
Def will. I'm kind of iffy as to how well my plants are doing. Their growth seems fine but I think I bored the holes a little too big and they are kinda sitting low. Root growth is good tho. The roots are expanding so I assume it they will grab and push up? Would it be wise to change the pods out at this point? :bigjoint:

Yea i did that on one of my plants, i would just cut down one side of a straw, and wrap it around the stem to give it some support, just cut it as long as needed, then you can wrap the stalk, and shove the straw down a lil into the sponge

love the setup with the light man, when you get those other 12 in, i would look into getting some C# anti-detction wrap

Thanks oldMcDonald. The setup really seems to compliment the Aerogarden. I would throw some of that up McDonald but I've maxed out my budget already. While its not the first item on my list you bring up a good point. It's alot of heat. I think I should be good though.

hey man a simple 400w. hid setup will be much better than all those damn cfls, It will make larger, fatter colas and it will penetrate to lower foliage. You will come out better with less bulbs, wires, etcc...
oh and that wood isnt a good reflector and you need all the lumens you can get!i would mylar or foil around the fixtures to make a REFLECTOR!

Man looks like you got urself a sic grow going. I just recieved 5 regular diesel ryder today. I read that book last month. get 8oz of bud for less than $100. And one question for anyone. How did that guy get 8 oz of bud using 40 watt cfl's in soil and mirical grow? Anyways I hope you do good maybe we can exchange pics along the way or something. My 400 watt hps is also the best move I've made so far on my grows. Hey move those lights down. You can keep them 1-3 inches away to get maximum lumens.

Happy Growing.

Ya I wanna pick one of those up. I think I can get 400w HPS for $250 from my hydro shop. You bring up a good point about the wood. It's on my to do list. That and throwing some mylar around the pods to lower the res temp and add more reflectiveness.

Thanks man I'm really excited about the setup. Also good to here there are others growin these diesel ryders. So far no real big speedbumps. I hear ya on the Seemorebuds book. Its a little bit unreal for like 6 soft whites the whole way but I've seen alot worse setups. Like I said I'm gonna look into getting a 400w. Wouldn't a 250 be sufficient for 3 plants though? Seems like it would be cooler too. I have an exhaust setup but how many more degrees am I gonna be up against with a 400w?

Day 8

So far everything seems to be going well.
Sorry guys the pic above was older and just used to show the wooden contraption. Currently I have the AG hood all the way down with 3 26w daylights close on each side. Here are some day 8 pics.

I'm switching to 20/4 tonight. I feel like they need rest and from what I've read it's a crucial part of photosynthesis. I haven't gotten the figure 8 cord though. Not sure if they will be ok for 4 hours with the AG off and the two airstones going.
lookin good man, you checcing the pH?
Yes and no SICC. I check it 2 times a day. Only thing is my cheapo PH tester only goes as low as 6.5. The water goes bright yellow every test so I assume its somewhere under 6. Can't wait till I get the dough to get a digital. I'm gonna pick up a basic digital one tomorrow hopefully.

I noticed the one on the rights leaves are yellowing a tad and whats up with the one on the left folding in on itself? The middle one seems normal. These look like problems to you guys?
probably just due to the seed shedding, should be fine, difneintly look into a digi meter, or if you order online, i would suggest this, its a good pH test kit, but it comes with pH UP and DOWN

Weird. Good call SICC. I actually just got back from my hydro store and they were out of the 80 dollar digi's so I paid 10 bucks for this.

Found out my PH WAS way too low so I leveled it out. Hopefully thats the reason for the yellowing cause the middle one's first leaves are yellowing a bit too. We shall see.:peace:
