Nah bro, This is for Cascadian and ANYONE else that may need this info!

OK, I'm back.

ROOT APHIDS are the most difficult pest to COMPLETELY destroy in your garden!:wall: I have dealt with these damn things before and after contact with MSU and a Bayer Pharm Horticulturist (Word has it that Bayer has developed a new insecticide specific to root aphids, but it's not on the market yet. All though another grower I know was sent some [he badgered the hell out of them] for testing out on his problem - it worked). We came up with this 4 part system to break the cycle of root aphid pain.
Why a 4 part system? Because what ever 1 or 2 things you do they come fucking back! If you follow this method,,,,,they will be GONE!

The first 3 parts involve the actual fight to COMPLETELY kill off the infestation. Lets get started. Get ALL the needed insecticides FIRST, before you start this method!

#1: Root drench with Pyrethrin 2 times, 5 days apart! For soil run it through and use alot to be sure you get UNDERNEATH the root ball (something called the umbrella effect comes into play here, so you want to be SURE that all the media gets wet)! For Hydro,,simply remove the net pot and place it into a now container and pour the Pyreth mix through the stone's, ball's or what ever and let the root ball soak for 10 min. ! This will alone effectively kill off 80 -85 % of the problem only!

NOW 7 DAYS LATER DO THE FOLLOWING

#2: Get something called BotaniGuard (ES [liquid] or 22WP [powder]) Amazon sells this for the best price I have found anywhere, at $93 for the ES and $73 for the 22WP.....not cheap I know,,,BUT,,, it's going to be better then tossing every plant you have out and going to step #4 (unless you want to).
For soil, mix as directed and drench again as listed above. Same thing applies for the soil as above and the same for the hydro.. DO NOT "shortcut" and use this stuff in the nutrient solution as it will kill off the fungal spores of the BotaniGuard. This will alone only kill off 98% of the problem,,,they WILL come back!

NOW 7 DAYS LATER DO THE FOLLOWING

#3: Get something called ORTHENE, the generic is far cheaper and is called ACEPHATE 97UP....Yes this is strong stuff,,,,,BUT at the level required for our use and the systemic duration of the chem it IS considered safe for our specific end use of the plant. Mix as directed (you will need a calculator to figure out the mix ratio per gallon. (4.7 grams per gallon?) please recheck my memory on this one as my grow notes from back then are not here at the house). Now put this into a spray bottle and LIGHTLY mist the TOP of the leaves on the entire plant. You DO NOT have to bury it in this stuff. It is a systemic and only needs a little to spread out into the entire plant, including the root system....The man at Bayer said to mist the top of the media you grow in also if you are in soil.....DO NOT DO SO IN HYDRO. Repeat in 7 Days!!!! This is it,,,,you've now killed off your problem in the plants.....BUT your not done yet!

LASTLY and JUST as IMPORTANTLY

PART #4: While you are waiting in between applications of the insecticides. You must now clean and STERILIZE everything in the grow!!!!!! Pot's, tools, walls, floors, gaps between every door, vent, any incoming air tube's, AC unit's, Heaters, etc, etc, etc......Don't leave anything out! The damn eggs are VERY persistent!!!! So be especially SURE ALL pots and anything that contacts your growing media is sterilized! For hydro,,,be sure that when the grow is over you DO the same for the COMPLETE system your using!!! Lines, pots, res. ANYTHING that contacted the feed solution and everywhere that it didn't!

This seems like overkill, I know. Here in Michigan this was never a problem until it was imported from Cali on Grape rootings and clones.
Some may say "I got rid of them doing this "X", or you may find someone saying that "I did "Y", and the internet bozo's suggested "Z".....
But "I" can guarantee you that they will return! And 5 years ago, we would Kill them and a month later they were back worse then before...... It took a lot of internet and phone time to get this squared away for good!
I'm here today to say that this IS what FINALLY ended the problem and "knock wood" it has not come back again......KEEP IT CLEAN!

I suppose you may get "LUCKY". But do you REALLY want to take the chance?

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Awesome, thank you so much! I was searching for this info when I got them and couldn't find it. I will look into picking up those products and am very happy I have a chance without tearing down and starting from seed. After those treatments I will probably risk one more grow and see how it goes. This summer I will not be growing and will clean everything to the best of my ability as well as treat any clones I save aggressively. +rep

cannacove, Use about 1-1.5 quarts of water to simmer in then let cool and use half of that amount (.5-.75 quarts) and mix into a total of 1.25 - 2 litres of solution. Make sure you add some soap as a surfactant to help stick to their bodies. I usually take a deep breath then approach the room and spray away as long as I can stand it (run away before you inhale) get the undersides of the leaves as best you can. It will kill the adults but not the eggs. Apply something different every 2-3 days and you will have them under "control" in about 10 days. Continue treating as if they are there for another week and you will likely not have problems through harvest. Can't guarantee they won't be back though, they are tough buggers.

Cooking ? :bigjoint:
Yes, that haha! (That's why i usually have my typo disclaimer in my siggy)

Oh man I fought the good fight last night/this morning. Pulled out all the girls, gave each one a private photo op, watered them with some silica added in, gave them a bamboo stick to tie em up, and also sprayed those fucking spider nights to hell as well as my grow hut. I burned those little bitch asses with some strong habanero spray! My hands are still burning.

Anyhow, once I crop the photos I'll p post em. Lot of pics though lol, hope y'all are ready.

Their life cycle is about 8 days + or - depending on temps. Higher temp means faster life cycle. I think the "standard" is every 3 days but if you think you caught them early and they haven't spread noticeably yet I would do every 2 days just to stay on top of the situation. Try some ISO alcohol and water at a roughly 50/50 mix with some soap added next time. Try not to soak any good sized buds. Then is 2-3 days hit them with mighty wash. They don't build tolerance to mighty wash like they do with other chemicals but it isn't cheap. Maybe also pick up some neem and mix it at 2-4ml/gallon, put the bottle of neem in a bowl of hot water to loosen it up before you pour it or mix it. Water it into the soil as a drench don't spray the plants with it. It is a systemic so it will work its way into the plant tissue that they eat and fuck with their reproduction system (they will forget to eat and reproduce). It is best but not necessary if the final solution you water with is at a slightly higher temp to keep the neem oil evenly distributed in the water. Don't use the neem within about 3 weeks max of harvest or it has the potential to change the flavor from what I have read.

Do some searching on the site too, I am sure there are other approaches. Where you are in flower it is tough though, I would use the neem once and hit them as often as you can with something different. In another week or two it will be much more risky to spray them with anything IMO. I think you will be able to get to harvest safely if you hit them consistently for the next week +.

Shit this is turning into a big post... Also, just a reminder that keeping the room clean, removing dead leaves, maybe removing plants and bleaching the floor/cracks/walls will also help. These things also have the ability to hibernate anywhere temps are below about 60 degrees in cracks and such... They earned the name "The Borg" for a reason.

Looking forward to the pics!

Yeah I think my saving grace is that i caught it early. I saw only 2 plants that had any mites. Well... that they had made the white flecking on the leaves anyhow.

I've read it's ok to use the habanero spray pretty much until the chop as long you get a water rinse after the last application...

Yeah, I have seen the same recommendation. As long as your humidity is under 40-45% or so and your temps are above 75ish you are probably safe but mold is a big risk too. Especially inside the buds once they develop a bit more. I know some growers would take your head off for even bringing a spray bottle into their house if they are in flower lol...

I will clear my inbox, thanks for the heads up...

no problem :)

So stupid question here... I sprayed and then I tried to keep temps down for the lights of period cuz I remember reasing that they dont like to do much when the lights out, and they don't like the cold... so I set my temp around 68. Is it gonna cause mold??
