going to snap some pics and see if there are any significant changes with the ^ PH..
Was worried that the plants left in rockwool may not be getting roots outside the cubes yet (only 1 small one showed when I put them in the buckets a week ago) and she's def. growing her roots, also checked on one of the girls I took most the rockwool off..didn't want to mess with them, just take a peek so I brushed back some hydroton, and they are still going..don't look too awful I guess..
Have noticed the ice strain in general has less root length than the bubble gum..the roots showing are on the plant that was pretty wilty/shriveled up this morning early, so I am going to water them more often since I don't have a definite on how long the pellets retain h2o.
Thanks for dropping by and have a wonderful day!

damn I don't even notice a color difference, I DO notice when new growth gets lighter green...what color diff are you meaning...and the ridges on the leaves...still hasn't went back to smooth...that 3-D look, know what I mean?
And they just don't seem to be wanting to "take off"...I'm not sure what to do, my brain bucket won't even drain now, so I am going to have to send it back on warranty..may have to put the inner pots in a wading kiddy pool to flood/drain until it gets back? what ya think? If I leave the outer buckets all the water will come out the tubing and flood me out when I water them..
I am pissed that I have to deal with this crap on something I bought new..I can see if it were used having a problem or two...but this is crap!!!

get some soil and finish out in that. this will alow you to keep growing in a suitable medium untill you can fix the hydro system :) just my 2¢

I was thinking that, too...will the ^ in PH overstress them? My soil mix seems to stay around 7 no matter the PH of the water or nutes, it has some sort of buffering in it..I have a 40 gal bin of soil mixed up still from the plants that died..(it was extra) and you can't reuse soil, correct? Even if it's been doused with something like hygrozyme and amendments are added back? Some of it I have in one huge bin only had plants in it for not even a week, but that's right, I put that oregonism XL crap into it which killed my plants..will attach a couple pics what this "great root stuff for increasing root mass" did..
Ahh then I won't be stuck at home..lol..which for now has been ok since my car broke down within a week of my explorer dying...NOT a gr8 start for 2012!!
Ok...soil it is..should I flush them w/ reg tap water to get all the ferts off before I put them in soil and how about the ones in the 4" rockwool..can you plant them right into soil...I heard the starters you can...thats going to be a huge mess..

The whole "plan" behind doing hydro was because it was supposed to be easier on the old back (broken in accident)
Lugging them 3 and 5 gal buckets into the shower for flushes was super killer on my back..ughh...well, now that I have a PPM meter hopefully I won't over nute and cook them, and the soil has some food in it, so just water until I see them looking like they need more food? Hear the amendments last 2-4 wks depending on plant size, so I may not need to feed for a month with these babies!
Awesome, and back to the soil I hated so much LOL.

This is what those pretty plants looked like "the morning after" giving some bennies in the soil, this stuff, at 19.99 for 4 ounces SAYS it is for use in soil and hydro/a soluble rooth growth enhancer, endo/ecto mycorrhizae..
I have heard GREAT stuff about mycorrhizae and I don't know why it took my plants from what you saw on the other journal...to this...my big mystery.

dam that sucks, i wouldnt use that stuff again. also i dont know why you are flushing soil that much?

soil itself is a buffer. 7.0 is a decent soil PH dont worry about bringing it up or down. make sure your soil has a good amount of perilite in it for drainage.

i couldnt tell you if the rockwool is ok to plant, but to be safe just dont plant it or at least all of it.

i would just take the plants as carefully as you can and pull them out of the buckets, fill your soil buckets up about 1/2 way and plop em in there and carefully add the rest of your dirt.then give them a good watering to settle all the soil and add more if needed.

you really may want to get a second opinion on transfering from hydro to soil as i have no experience with this and do not want to give advice that could hurt your plants. best of luck and let me know how you make out :)

well the few times I did feed them, I OVER fed them, started seeing burn and whenever something didn't look right after feeding them I'd flush, lol..most posts I did when I first joined people tended to say "when in doubt...flush" LOL.
My soil is about 60/40 soil/perlite

googled and consensus is: YES you can plant rockwool directly into soil..
Off I go...*fingers crossed**

okee dokee...got them all sitting with their roots in soil/perlite...let's hope this makes things run smoother..I for one, won't miss having to be in the room all the time and I didn't soak the soil fully, just kinda to where their roots are, didn't want to "over" water..and along the sides so the roots will go looking for it...do you water top or bottom...just curious,
Thank you for your assistance, and I am sure I will be posting again soon...I noticed a few leafs were kinda junky looking on 2 of the babies that I tore a tiny bit of the ends of roots on removing them from the rockwool...someone had said to water in the dish under it so to encourage the roots to spread out looking for food/water..I mean hell..it doesn't rain from below...just wanted opinions...lol.

i water from above, some people let the pots sit in water and "wick" it. from what i have read on here there is no real difference. me personally i like to water from top and let about 10% runoff

always use less than on the bottle says. starting with 1/4 strength then increase to 1/2 , then if she likes it, with no bad effects....then you can increase the doses. good you flushed the nutes out was too hot!

I don't want to start feeding them for awhile, though, right? The soil has worm castings among other amendments, they should be ok for a few weeks...but maybe since I was giving them a higher dose they may use the soils stuff up quicker...what was too hot, lime73? The PPM's I had been giving them? I did run the pebbles under water before transplanting, just to get rid of salts etc that may be lurking in what is left of the rockwool...it's been about 6 hrs now..just took some pics, oh and each one got a gentle root soak in thrive alive (it says to use during transplant to avoid shock) I just did a few ml per gallon, then planted them...all the roots were long and branchy and white, except 1...had some almost orange color on one root, but thinking it may be because that root was lying against the orange'ish pebbles? it didn't come off from their quick soak b4 transplant, hope they are ok...took pics...a couple have spots on the leaves...I did trim them a tad, like bubble #4 had it's first set of leaves really funky deformed, so I removed them, just a snip with the fingernail...and the original 2 leaves that come out were turning yellow on a couple, so I took em off..I hate bad looking leaves! They have a LOT of bunchy growth between leaf sets, I guess that's what they call tight nodal spacing(wondering..)??
OK so now this is an organic soil grow...man how things can change in a day round this place!!!
Anyone venture a guess at the spots?
Thanks, have a wonderful night..I'm going to load my bong and finish watching season 1 of "Lie to me"....yeah...free time again!!

That was a blue rhino..had 2 of them, a jack frost, an afghooey, Romulan x grapefruit and 2-3 unknowns from a friend of a friend, so I had 7 or 8 then, too..plus the 1 clone that survived, so 8..and now I have 7 babies, and a Romulan GF clone that I should probably give up on but it just grew some new leaves just hasn't gotten much taller since the oregonism xl incident...it lost ALL of it's leafs, just like the others...the stem is brown, kind of wood looking and V shaped (it was the only part of the plant I could find alive enough to clip a clone from, but I'm guessing it is unhealthy because it's mom was..weird, too when I took those pics I thought the plant was doin terrible (had multiple leafs with just weird stuff here and there, id pull one every time I saw one though) though it is looking gr8 to me now, they were 2 1/2 months old and I thought at the time, growing very slow.....damn can't believe those should be getting flowers now, not be in the compost bin :-( The trouble with being home everyday and with your plants I guess you don't see the changes..but I have NEVER had a plant come even close to growing 2-3 inches a day as others seem to be able to pull off..(and how they are supposed to be growing)

I need to contact that company, the roots organics/Aurora innovations people...that may have been a bad batch, but it says it has fungi in it, and that is exactly what it looked like ate my plants, and sooo quickly..in soil, which is suppose to be more forgiving that plants can turn fuzzy grey and totally shriveled up overnight blows my mind..
