Thanks pal. I had 1 harvest already this season. Had my hermie pollinate my 2 females in week 5 of flower. Got like 50+seeds i did crop the hermie At that point in time. Then threw the 9 weeker in flower and at the 10th it showed balls. I have a jack white female clone at week 2 at that time and didnt want it to spread. Jack white is almost 42 days flower 52 days since flip
Yay for feminized seeds!

I totally hear you on the need for containment, whenever I get a girl in the flower room that hermies, I try my best to sanitize the room, or at least do anything I can to reduce the viability of any remaining pollen.

Thank u fem seeds! I started with 7 reg afghani #1 seeds only 2 left. 1 in veg 1 herm 2 fem 1 male. I have 2 in week 2 of veg that r the fem seeds from the harvest. Afghani #2 lol. Yeah i mean i took everything out and clorox wiped everything after that lol. I let it go too long should took it out sooner. Atleast ibhave a shyt ton of seeds now:)

Those sound like some killer crosses.
Wonder what would cross well with my afghani #1. I can get different strain clones from my guy. Only 4 i can get are master kush, khalifa kush, blue grape diesel, and jacky white atm
Great thing about Afghani is that it's a landrace strain, so there isn't much pheno variation I would imagine. So the hardest part is finding a different strain with the characteristics you want to cross with it. That's the only downside to hybrids created from other hybrids, unless the breeder took the time to stabilize the genetics each seed could be a different pheno.

So after looking at the new clones a little more closely, I started noticing little tiny white specs on the top-side of the leaves. Upon looking closer, when I flipped the leaves over.... Surprise, surprise... I found some spider mites and bunch of eggs. Needless to say, those plants have now been quarantined outside and will most likely be culled. So it looks like breeding the crosses are out of the question. :(

As confident as I am in my ability to get rid of the little suckers, it's a fight I just don't care to engage in. lol

Here's an up close look at the manifold. It's not perfect, but notice how the the two mains are equal girth of the stalk? Had I super cropped her, the growth would be more lateral, but the canopy is still nice and flat. :)

Nice canopy. Looking like she is guna fill up with buds pretty soon
If I ever put her into flower, lol! I've been using her as a mother recently and am waiting for the clones to show some sign of life so I can flip to flower. If I can get the mites off of the GG and OG clones I may flower sooner, but it's looking like it'll be another two weeks before the 12/12 flip. That, or I'll be finishing her up outside, and working with the clones inside.

Man ya definitely in a tangle on what to do. Spider mites seem to be the devil! Is the plant in the pic from a regular seed and you are waiting for confirmation from your clones of the sex?

They're easy enough to get rid of in young plants, but I don't want to risk them moving to the big girl. She already has her pre-flowers popping pistils, so no worries on the sex.

Journal update: Day 1 of flower.

So, I've decided to make the fem'd seeds with the two clones outside and have thrown the big girl into flower. She may be a little too big at this point to really reap the benefits of the manifold, though. She'll get another defoliation at week 3 of flower which will hopefully open up the canopy to get some light to the lower buds.

Journal update: Day 16 of flower

The big girl inside is doing great! Her canopy has reached about 5 sq ft and is officially taking up half my closet, lol! The only food she's been given so far in flower is about 3 tablespoons of kelp meal worked into the topsoil. This week I'm working on lightly defoliating and spreading out her canopy. After this week, other than water and feeding if necessary, she'll be on her own for the remaining 4 weeks.

The Big Diesel male (possibly male/herm) outside has taken a beating during this heat wave, but is still hanging tough.

The Lemon OG and GG#4 girls outside are doing well, they made it through the hottest part of the heat wave and seem to have been abandoned by their spider mite friends, though I don't trust them enough to bring them back inside.

Here's the girl inside. I'll post some pictures of the outcasts soon.

It has been hot here in California as well having all kinds of heat issues
The struggle is real!

Luckily I've been able to get the heat issues under control. Started doing some research on leaf surface temperature to help me dial in my closet temps. Sure enough, the studies I've found have been correct. Even though the temps in my closet top out around 82 deg, the surface temps of the leaves stay around 75 - 78. Where around 77 point something, is the sweet spot, it is safe to say from personal experience, my fellow LED growers perusing this journal, yes it is okay to run your grow room at slightly higher temps. Though I wouldn't break the 82 degree threshold unless you're supplementing co2 into your grow room.

Here's the big girl 2 days after her last defoliation. I went at it a little more aggressively than planned thanks to the beginning of a mite infestation, but I think I successfully biopsied those buggers.

As promised here are pictures of the Lemon OG and GG#4 girls, as well as the Big Diesel male outside. I was too lazy to go out and photograph him but he'll stand out for sure, lol!

Journal Update: Day 28 of flower

The manifold (though not done perfectly) in conjunction with the defoliation is working nicely. Also, the spots on the lower branches I've been spraying with colloidal silver have started to sprout pollen sacs, which should be perfectly timed to breed to the GG#4 girl outside for some fem'd seeds.

Here she is at day 37 of flower. The leaves have started to claw leading me to believe that she has some ph problems or nitrogen toxicity. I'm leaning toward the former since she hasn't had any nitrogen added during flower.

The two lower branches that were sprayed with the cs are starting to swell up with pollen and will probably be ready to harvest at the same time or shortly after I chop the rest of the plant.

Anyways, she's still packing on some weight, and was flushed this morning. It's looking like from the top 12" of the canopy she'll drop about 2.5 - 4 oz's of flower. If I can hit 3 oz's and 50-100 fem'd seeds, I'll consider this run a success.

Chopped the girl down a couple of weeks early due to lack of both funds and flowers. I'll have the final weight posted up sometime next week. She's already about 4 days into drying. I've also dusted about 10 or 12 budsites on the lemon og and gg#4 girls outside. As long as the pollen is viable I should have some fem'd seeds come mid to late October. :) I'll post up some pictures soon.

She ended up giving me just under 3 ounces of good flower with just over an ounce of smalls/sugar leaf. Overall, I think the manifold technique is great. Though, the bulk of the weight came from the top twelve inches of the canopy with the light at eighteen inches over head. Had I cut the veg time by 2 or 3 weeks, or defoliated a bit more aggressively, I could have avoided the popcorn.
